Well i've never used the bluetooth on my 6700c before and after reading these posts thought id atleast try switching it on.
I tried and guess what, the stupid bar just keeps bouncing back and forth while "switching on bluetooth" is displayed. When i press the end call button to cancel it, the phone restarts....how bizzare. Not good Nokia, not good!

hI have seen your solution , i will be honest and say i dont seem to have any issues with my phone but would still like to update firmware.
I have windows 7, i have OVI suite already on my pc with all the connections for my phone, i have no problem with bluetooth recognition, usb cables work etc
However i went into manager and disabled the phone like you mentioned , but when u say got to update - do you mean OVI suite tools - software update - as when i do this - i still see firmware 7.60.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think I will have mentioned preferably to use PC Suite ( ? ) ( I read that somewhere on the Nokia website ).
Anyway, do the update with Nokia Software Updater IN PC Suite ( right away after you disabled the thing in Device Manager ).
Good luck.

Ok understand but - when i go to nokia site to download nokia pc suite for the 6700 it only lists that ovi and nokia pc suite are only compatable for 6700 in xp and vista. Even though version numbers are the same.
sorry to be a pain just dont understand that bit.

Uhm...I guess u have Windows 7 then.
Uhm, I'd try both Ovi and PC Suite. I would also have to try it. Don't know. For me this worked in Vista AND in XP.
Good luck!

Hi,
I fiollowed the procedure twice checking it as I went and when it tries to update it still tells me there are no updates. My version is 7.60. I am so frustrated its unbeleivable. I tried using both the OVI update and the Nokia PC suite update. Does anyone have any ideas where I am going wrong.
Thanks in advance.

NSU still gives me the 7.60 as the most recent version...
@ Scico & @ Karky :
I also had this ( there would be no update to V07.60 while there WAS a V07.90 ).
I do not know 100% what it was but I do know that I DID UN-install all Nokia Software and then Rre-installed the Nokia ( initially ONLY the PC Suite and the drivers that you need, and THEN ALSO FIRST update THAT software. Only AFTER that I tried to conncet for the Firmware updat. ). Well, after that the update to V07.90 appeared again.
Who knows it's different when you download the software at different places. So just do it via the general Nokia website.
Good luck!
Maybe it's a wrong software version

OK....I have a PC running Windows XP, I have un-installed all previous versions of any Nokia software. My 6700 still has firmware v7.60.
I downloaded Ovi suite for PC, installed it, sync'd my phone & backed up it's contents.
I then clicked on the drop down for software updates, Ovi suite was at it's latest revision .42 but fabulously the software update recognized my phone and informed me that firmware upgrade v10.5 was now available for install....Whoa yeah!
I started the update.....after what seemed an age to download the 59MB software upgrade Ovi then began the firmware update (Telling me to ignore any messages about USB connections) stating it would take about 15 minutes.
The phone bleeped...entered test mode...30 secs later the firmware update halts and I get the following -
"Internal Error!" - Error in Software Package Configuration..........AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!
Why can't it just work!!!!!!!!!!!! No wonder everyone is turning to Apple.
FYI, My phone was purchased brand new from a reputable seller, completely unlocked & unbranded.
Can someone please explain why I can't update my phone??? Or at least what is going wrong???
Many Thanks, From a long time Nokia supporter (But one who's thinking "Not for much longer!")

OK.....went back through this entire thread.
In Windows Device Manager (See previous posts on this thread) under 'Portable Device' it showed 'Nokia 6700'...I right clicked and the clicked on 'Disable'
I then began the update process again.......BINGO!
My Nokia 6700 Classic now has Firmware v10.50
At this stage I'm not sure exactly what the update has changed (So far all I've noticed is that the GPS & Battery Icons on the home screen have changed slightly). No new Applications, as promised during the Ovi update process though! Let's hope things like earphone volume & battery life have increased & that the phone stops crashing like it used to do.
If anyone knows exactly what the update does I'd be interested to know.
Thanks again all.
