Hi there,
(sorry for my bad english!)
Okay, my 6700 C started to "frezz" or reboot or die for about two month ago and I tryed to update the phone with NSU, but without luck! The phone was born with 7.60.
I send it to Nokia for repair and all they did was to update it to 7.90. I helped a lot, but it still frezzes some times and I still can not use NSU for reinstall.
When my phone "goes down" it helps to reset the phone totally (and I mean totally!!), but not for longe......and it does still not let me use NSU (my phone starts to update and then goes to "Testing mode").
So, all I want to say is that it will not ease all your sorrows, updating the phone to 7.90 (which i am running now).
I am still waiting for a newer update.....
Have a nice day friends :-)

Yeah...NOW via Nokia Ovi Suite the V 7.90 firmware update DOES appear automatically again.
But, again NOT possible to update.
I have 2 N 6700 devices (one for my own country) & one for in the UK. One of them is good, one of them (a black one) NOT...
The black one also freezes...
Grrrr!!!....

88mb for Ovi suite!! You gotta be kidding me. What exactly have they put in there.
Im sorry but i cant justify installing such an app especially when the system requirements state that 2GB drive space must be free.

Probably lots of "Interestingitus" :
http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/d
Contains :
- Music
- Photos
- Videos
- Internet
- Maps
- and some Utilities
I think u ain't missing a thing. But, I think I read somewhere @ the Nokia website that the 6700 is not compatible with PC Suite.
Well, whatever, no sweat.

Dont fret. Im sure the 6700 is supported. Go to the europe.nokia.com site and you'll see its supported. Its most likely that the nokia employees responsible for maintaining the UK site are lazy hence its not been updated.
If you go here http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/d
...and type in 6700, the phone is displayed, so they haven't completely forgot about it.
One question i do have though is, can you install the Nokia Software Updater only without the PC-Suite in order to perform an update?
I've tried this before and during the device discovery part, my phone is never found by the software updater, even though its plugged into my pc via usb.

Well I am finally pulling my hair out. I have spent several hours of messing around trying to get my 6700 bluetooth working. I took it into a 3 shop on Saturday and they were about as helpful as a chocolate tea cup!!
Come on Nokia pull your finger out and help the customers!!
Also is anyone finding the 6700 battery life rubbish. I am charging mine up every night.
Thanks in advance Mark

I HAVE DISABLED THE HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS THAT HELPS IT THEN JUST USES STANDARD 3G.
I GOT OVER 6HOURS IN A ROW TODAY THOUGH USING CAMERA AND INTERNET PLUS A COUPLE CALLS. (I AM ON O2)
FM RADIO IS NAFF ALSO.
HOW DO YOU RESET THE PICTURE IMAGE COUNTER ON THE CAMERA , ANYONE HELP ME ?

Hey, has anyone noticed a bug with text messages from voicemail not appearing at the top of your inbox message list?
For example I'm on the O2 UK network and whenever I get a new voicemail text alert, if I don't open/read it from the home screen, then I find I have to scroll through hundreds of text messages in my inbox before I can find the unread text message from O2. This doesn't happen to messages I get from people or other automated services (which always appear at the top in date order), but it is still very annoying!!
Just wondering if 7.9 fixes it (7.6 doesn't).

the story continues.........the nokia autorised repair centre SBE Ashford Kent were not able to fix my phone (update the firmware) as I have an austrian variant of the 6700 with version 7.6, so I contacted Nokia Careline AGAIN, who advised me to send it to them direct for repair, of course I lost the plot when they told me to do this, because they should have just done this in the first place.
However the issue were resolved when SBE changed the language pack and re flashed the phone with the same 7.6 version of the firmware, but as this voids the nokia warranty they did not leave it like this but returned it to me not working.
i have been told the handset is on its way back to me

Why go to a Care centre when it should WORK ONLINE????.....

I agree on that with you. I have bought TWO 6700's. The first one I bought (a stainless steel one) works fine but still has the 7.60 firmware.
The second one I bought (a black one), started to totally freeze after like a week ( it did not switch off). I had to go all the way back to the store (or send it by freemail). Once I was in the shop they said they could not change it for another one (as the 28 days had passed, and I came from abroad) but they could send it for repair. But I had to come all the way back to the shop to pick it up again (why not let it send to the house I stay after it was repaired...to me that works like government organisations, so unflexible).
Anyway, after like 2 weeks or something the black one was sent back, a new one!... Well, after all well taken care of, they sent an extra memory module with it (as I took mine out, following the instructions) and they sent a Nokia Music Gift Card, so THAT went very well. And...the new phone, surprisingly has WHAT FIRMWARE...YES...V 07.90 on it!...

BUT...Did ANYONE hear/read ANYTHING said/written by Nokia that they take RESPONSIBILITY for ANYTHING, regarding this error?????
I have NOT (yet)...
Indeed, if Nokia would handle this issue seriously&professionally then they would ACKNOWLEDGE the error, communicate about it and come with a strategy to FIX the error!
And uhm, if I were you, it is a great looking phone with great features, so it would be a pitty to have to change it, but hey...this issue has been going on for quite some time and what did Nokia do/communicate??? NOTHING yet...
Nokia's attitude TOTALLY does NOT suit such a wonderful machine they launched.
I mean it should not be TOO hard to fix it, I think.
May Nokia thinks: "okay, this 6700 was launched with an error. Let's help those who come with the machine for repair, forget about the others, let's focus on the other phone models and soon there will be other models so let's not waste too much energy/money on THIS error.", I don't know, Nokia is SILENT, walks away, not there, if it is about acknowledging the error/responsibility and communicating about it...

Hi 19'700 (2x6700and1x6300)
Thanks for the reply. What does the update to to V07.90 do? Can you now listen to radio over the speaker?
Wondering if the update itself is worth it. If you tell me that it is, i'll go by the store that sold it to me to have them take care of if.
Agree that this is a fine little gadget. If it had WLAN it yould be the epitome of mobile communication. Hope to see the day when you can order a phone that you can configure to your specific needs, like in cars, where you can combine different features, engines and fuel types. But I guess that that is still ways off.
Looking forward to your comments.
