I am trying to update my 5800 to 40.0.005. The update starts and always gets to exactly 114.4MB of the 145.3MB download before stalling and failing after 3 attempts. When it retries it does so beginning at the 111.0 MB point and again gets to the 114.4MB before stalling. This feels like a server side issue where it is refusing to serve part of the download, any ideas ? Here is what I have already tried to rectify the problem.
1) Uninstalled all other Nokia software such as Ovi Suite.
2) Uninstalled and re-installed NSU, however it still starts at the 111.0MB point of the download indicating the temp file isn't removed on uninstall.
3) Turned off the PC firewall though given how far the download gets this isn't likely the problem.
4) Checked ISP connectivity and speed which is ample at ~4Mbps constant over ADSL.
5) Switched the phone to a direct (i.e. non-hub) USB 2 port though I don't think it is hitting the phone at the point it is failing.
Any ideas or anyone else seen this sort of behaviour ? Its clear that it is in the internet file download phase and not trying to update the phone at the time.
Thanks
John

I'm getting the same thing with my N97 but it only gets to 14Mb three times and fails. Internet speed is 200+Kbytes/sec.
I've tried with the latest versions of PC Suite, Ovi and NSU. Very frustrating.

I was using Avast which seemed to turn itself off when I disabled the windows XP firewall. However to be safe I uninstalled it and tried the update again. Still no joy and it still stalls at exactly the same 114.4MB point. Does anyone know how I can force it to at least attempt to download from the start, perhaps some corruption causes it to fail on some checksum during the download but even uninstalling NSU and re-installing doesn't seem to reset this temporary file ?
Thanks

uninstall all nokia softwares on your pc. restart. then use the registry cleaner app called ccleaner. after that reinstall pc suite and nsu. (i did not use the ovi suite to update my n97 yesterday). disable firewall and avast. update.
if still not working, some said that formatting the pc will solve this prob.

hey, did you two disable your ANTI VIRUS and FIREWALL before updating? If not try it and do the update again, because I believe these are blockers.
Yeah, I disabled both of them before updating yesterday and it had gone smoothly.
Yes I have tried that and just about everything except formatting my drive which of course will never happen. If a piece of software is so bad that suggesting a reformat will fix it then I'll give up using a PC. The same applies to resinstalling sodtware. If that is a fix then the software is seriously flawed.

okey if that's the case.
but the phone is much faster now esp the browser and the extra 54.5mb of ram at start up. you dont want to miss that.
