Re: NSU Team response to Nokia N93 (sticky)

nokia CANNOT do this, and if they were even to consider it, they would be facing a HUGE lawsuit. They cannot sell a defective product and not either replace or fix it. Doing this is against the law.

probably cause the n93i will be released sooner than expected, and you are close to nokias home base so you might see it first?
should be out this quarter, IE in the next month or so if some sources are correct.

Nokia n93 Firmware update?

I have passed this onto watchdog in the uk, I hope they take it on board and investigate with Nokia, were not getting answers here or with Nokia themselves.

So anyone else want to complain,

Re: Nokia n93 Firmware update?

So far we have not received any information updates from Nokia about this issue. It is still being investigated, as stated earlier.

We will keep you posted when we get any new information.

Re: Nokia n93 Firmware update?

Hi, Ive been watching this forum for about 2 weeks now. I have a Nokia N93 got it a week ago, I have the latest firmware. The biggest gripe for me is the camera, like you guys say its goes black and white in dark lighting conditions and in less than perfect lighting conditions the camera in video and still is less than average. Admittedily in good lighting conditions I cant fault it. I have also done the watchdog thing, and it apears after peeps wanting a response from nokia they finally have now.

Thanks for keeping us updated vandelay, you'll find a post like this fairly often, (even though it doesnt tell us much)will make a MASSIVE amount of differnce, it makes your clients feel like your doing something rather than just leaving things on the sideline and forgetting about us, is it possible to give us regular updates on these types of things? someone needs to drive these things, keep pushing for them to get done or they do get forgotten about....

(can you tell i also work in support?)

again thanks for the update, keep it up if you could

Regards,

Daniel

PS if we get one every week saying still being investigated, its better than nothing, though that does get a little tyresom if nothing appears to be happening...

Re: Nokia n93 Firmware update?

This is what i was suggesting for a bit....
the mods here are not able to tell us the technical stuff (it really isnt their job)
what would be good is if we can have some sort of liason (may it be weekly or monthly) between the tech guys and the forum....someone who is responsible on updating the forum about technical issues...not only the N93 but ALL phones...such things as when fw will next be released, changes/improvements made to fw and also addressing the more prominent issues/problems consumers are facing....i think this is a good idea

Re: Nokia n93 Firmware update?

i agree, also maybe even things like common problems people are having on the forum, being put up on dedicated pages, so that would even help to release a lot of the repeat questions asked on here, and hense probably save nokia money in the long run and improve their rep!

Re: Nokia n93 Firmware update?

thank you for agreeing....instead of 8000+ emails per day with a liason nokia can dramatically reduce that figure as questions and general queries would be answered right here...
to the mods can this become an actuality?

Re: Nokia n93 Firmware update?

I've posted, on my blog, a quick article on how shoddy Nokia's support has been on the n93. My blog usually has a great google pagerank for the articles I post, so this should be the same. Hopefully soon, if someone searches on Google for Nokia, n93, Smartphone, Firmware, Camera, Problems, Crashes, etc, they'll find the article, and think twice about buying.

Nokia, you're a disgrace.

Re: Nokia n93 Firmware update?

Im sorry, but what firmware version is all the buzz about.
Me myself using 20.0.058 and I do not experience all the problems mentioned in your blog. Rather the opposite I am very happy with the phone.

The phone by the way was shipped with 20.0.058 version from Pixmania.

I am still getting the black and white recording at night.

Re: Nokia n93 Firmware update?

offndr, Please understand that when you pay 800Euros,
thats almost 1300.00$$$ in my country! for a cellphone that promises to be the best, Nokia should at least offer support in any way possible. If its thru online updates, service center updates, warrenty issues or otherwise. We should not get the run-around for an item that cost as much as a Plasma TV which can be Financed! I know people with 100 Dollar phones that get better support by 10times! And thats 3rd party!

The Bottom line for me are the issues of Bluetooth compatability, Image and Video Quality, Stability and finally, the most important Cell Phone Call Quality!
My N93 makes loud CRACKS, POPS, Banging sounds like someone is clapping and banging pots and pans in my ear when I talk to people! Audio Codec problems with a 800 euro phone is OUTRIGHT UNACCEPTABLE! How can you claim one of the most advanced phones with the actural PHONE Part not working as good as a Free phone from your local service provider?????

The only thing that can fix all these issues, customer satisfactrion and the like are Firmware, software updates to address the issues.

I have already issues my concerns to my Lawyer.

Re: Nokia n93 Firmware update?

All I am saying is that me myself am very happy with my N93. I do not experience any of those problems adressed in your post.

Everything works perfectly. The only issue is black and white recording at night.

I do however hope Nokia is soon to release a firmware to improve the grainy quality of the pictures taken by this superexclusive thing.
I just love my N93.

over and out

Re: NSU Team response to Nokia N93 (sticky)

PLEASE DO NOT PURSUE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!!!

Nokia would like nothing better than for this to happen. Why? Because a settlement of a class action suit would necessarily relieve Nokia of all future liable related to the N93. Therefore Nokia would have the legal right to cease support of the device, as there would be no remedy for consumers post settlement.

You may ask why this should matter, since a settlement would mean damages were paid to those participating in the action. I'll tell you why. On average, each complainant in the suit could expect to recieve perhaps 15% of the retail price of their device, which is not enough to replace the device, or to buy a competitors product. This means that those who've settled would find themselves with the N93, a small amount of cash, and no longer able to support. It is a losing proposition for the consumer. The only winners would be the legal team that handles the suit, and of course, Nokia...

I hope I've added to the conversation.
