Hi,

When I try to use NSU, I get the following error:

"Action failed due to network problems"

Anyone know what might be causing it and how I can fix it?

Hi,

I got exactly the same issue today, when I upgraded from NSU ver 1.1.40 to NSU 1.1.45.

I guess it can be a bug or something... And I hate the way Nokia force us update to the newest version without letting us keep a previous one.

If you find how to fix it, let me know.

I have the 1.2.20en version and I have the same problem. I tried stopping the firewall on XP, but I still have the same problem. Probably I can't make it work since I have to connect thrue a proxy that requests username and password... right? Why not just make the client able to install software that you download locally with a browser, instead of the problem semingly everyone has...?

hi all this error message if u have dialup some time date not sent receive maybe reason is that and if u have DSL you not allow in installation you receive two messahe block unblock cancel if u set block thats why u received error message action to fail network so reinstall nokia software update and then u received two message set unblock both of then start and connect your handset and update enjoy bye

I tried to reinstall everything (NSU, Nokia PC Suite) but honestly I never got any message to unblock anything. I really don't know what to do. please help.

I will try to describe better my environment and maybe someone can atleast tell me that it's not possible to do what I would like...

I have Windows XP sp2. I access internet using a proxy which checks username and password and supports only https and http.

I have tried turning of the XP firewall, but I still get the same error message. I forced the unenabling and newly enabled the two processes blocked by the firewall, but still get the same problem.

I made a netstat -an and find a connection in time-wait after the error, that goest to the following IP 156.54.226.250 port 80. If that's the IP address, then I believe there is no support for the need of access through proxy.

Anyway thanks in advance for any help that I might get.

disable your proxy and remove nokia pc software and also disable firwall ,,, tell me when u connect the cable on your phone the driver plug in check is there any error in control panel device manager and disable firwall in control panel and if you using lan card set default connection which u r using are you using dialup ? DSL ?\

IF U USING DIALUP maybe speed is slow thats why problem to u timeout no response i also install nokia update then after install my display message is restart pc after restart i connect my phone to cable simple my mobile driver show me to diaplay plugin after plug in another message display block your host nokia i set unblock then another message same unblocked and start nokia update and update step by step my firmware update thats all simple setup if u check again maybe ur problem will be clear

I don't use dial-up (not slow speed), but I can't disable the proxy, because without proxy I have no access to the internet.

I believe the problem is that the NSU doesn't use the proxy settings, with username and password. :-(

hello mikeal i will check on dialup i found the problem main reason is speed if u update on dialup the start download in few second the file auto stop downloading without error only broadband net dsl update the nsu online if u have lan cable and the speed is slow 1kbs 2kbs i think is bad to update upgrate u net speed then download nsu

Check with your rpivider that your proxy supports FTP (port TCP 21 traffic). Nokia Software update uses port 21 firstly (Active FTP), will then try passive FTP, and will then try 80 (HTTP). It is known that NSU has problems with connecting through proxy servers, so if problems persist and you cannot disable your proxy, please try taking the phone to one of your relatives and try performing the update there.
Clearly, in your case, the proxy is the bottleneck...
