Hello there,
i have a nokia 6700 and i tried updating it but instead when i turned it on there was a white screen and a black horizontal line going throught the middle, so the nokia care center people came to get the phone and they said that it will take around 3-5 working days to get the phone back. i was just wondering how long do they really take. its because i have waited 4 days already and i havent got anything back yet WAITED FROM MONDAY TILL FRIDAY AND now i cant wait more longer and plus its a saturday tommorow and sunday and i really need the phone back.
PLEASE REPLY BACK THANKS I WILL GIVE KUDOS FOR ANY REPLIES.

It depends on the problem and it also depends on the individual care point. Most care points are run by contractors and not by Nokia themselves. The people at the care point are the only ones who can tell you when the phone will be ready. Why not try ringing them.

Lots of people have had this issue, it is on many threads on the forum but I'm glad to say a little progress on this has been made!
I ordered a 6700 classic on Vodafone through my Vodafone Platinum business provider, but stipulated it must be running v13.1. They came back saying Nokia wouldn't authorise this on the batch of phones they had.
So, as my girlfriend's Sony Ericsson was failing, I took a 6700 classic running v10.5. When I received it, I knew not to attempt the upgrade over the air, so just before handing the phone to her, I plugged it into my Ovi suite and ran the update checker - and v13.1 was available!
Some progress indeed. So, it might not work for all networks, but certainly for a 6700 classic from Vodafone, it seems this can be upgraded to the latest version - OK not over the air, at least I don't think so, I am certainly not going to try that again but there is a solution for some nonetheless using Ovi and being on the right network - its a network/country lottery it would seem.
Perhaps Nokia or someone who has recently used the phone's built-in update method can confirm or deny this method working?
