So bought my N97 here in Saudi when it was first released, back in June. Yes, I know....those scally's at Nokia certainly saw me coming didn't they....

Anyway, I am still waiting for v20 for the Middle East, specifically KSA. When will this be released?

I have a sim free unbranded product ( which I paid through the nose for ). Product Code 0576500

But, life is about living and learning through experience. My experience of buying a sim free unbranded product, then being treated like a third rate citizen by Nokia, leads me to conclude that I shall never do that again. Never will I allow myself to be compromised by a company who does not care , does not explain, and more importantly, does not deliver the goods.

Most of the regualr posters on here criticise Apple and their products. I've been using them for several years, and the customer support is MILES AHEAD. You know what you get with a Mac / Apple product. With Nokia, you have absolutely no idea.

When (on which exact date ) will v20 be released for the MENA Region, and more specifically, KSA?

Do you honestly expect to get an answer from nokia when you post like that?

This is a user to user forum, the only nokia employees here are the moderators who are not on the technical side and the official volunteers that are.  Sometimes the volunteers will answer questions like this, they did about the UK release of v20.

If you are expecting an answer from a volunteer then perhaps you should choose your words a bit better in future? Being constructive gets results, ranting and abusing does not.

The FIRST POST was a question asked politely, and very straightforwardly - would you agree? I stated the facts, and asked if anyone had any information. I believe I said - Does anyone know when this will be released?

So, after a few days, there was no reply. now this can mean several things. Believe it or not, I am actually a reasonable individual but the experiences of dealing with Nokia, has driven me to want to punch someone - anyone - at Nokia, really really hard in the face. And I'm not normally a violent person.

It could mean that no-one has read the post. But , as there are other posters on here in the ME, then I would be surprised at this.Also based upon the fact it has been viewed 164 times, makes me think we can rule this option out.

It could also mean no-one has the answer. In that case, would it not be polite and courteous to reply to a straight answer with a straight question - much as you are suggesting I do - behave politely? If Nokia, or the volunteers or whoever polices this "Discussion" Board, do not know, then admit it - declare the fact.

Furthermore, it may also mean that Nokia - or volunteers - do indeed have the information, but the answer is so embarrassing, no-one wants to publish it on a public " Discussion" Board. 

Hmmmm.

Your first part did start off polite but by then end it had turned into a nokia bashing rant, so again you should consider your words carefully if you want attention from the volunteers or those in the know. 

Personally as a rule, even if I do know the answer I won't bother posting it to a ranter, moaner or troll.  I help those that want help, not those that come here to rant and moan.

It's your choice how you behave, I was simply pointing out the facts.  It's not nokia's responsibility to answer questions here because as clearly stated this is a peer to peer forum, not a means of contacting nokia.

Ok, so I might moan and rant, but in the circumstances where I have no support in regard of the handset, Nokia Customer care or the retailer - I have no-one to turn to, so I think it is quite understandable that I vent my frustration and anger directly at Nokia. If it gets me banned, then I get banned, but I refuse to suck up to people like you, and Nokia, who just do not give a damn. I find your attitude rather smug,  totally devoid of relating to those users who are having serious trouble with their devices, and after shelling out over £500.

Is it that you cannot handle anyone who doesn't suck up to you? I've had with this handset, the fact of Customer support and people like you who think that the world is made of sugar candy , candy floss and unicorns. 

But your behaviour intrigues me, even through your attitude doesn't .

Why then did you even in the first place post a reply to my thread. If you thought it was all of those things you abhor , why even bother replying? Surely it is a pure act of antagonism? Why post a reply saying I'm not going to help you, then later on admit you don't even know the answer anyway. It seems that you are just creating friction for no reason.

So answer me one question if you please - do you know of ANYONE who might have a slightest clue about then the new software will be released?

im here in the middle east too! and we have the same product code of 0576500 (black). but i already updated it to v2.0 since the first day of the release (october 27, 4:00pm) without changing the product code. it works very well and i love my n97 now.

Hi Ricardo, 

Yes, I was very very nearly in the same boat!!

 On Oct 27th, I was downlaoding the v20 for my product code - same as yours - and due to a slow interent connection, it had taken around two hours to downlaod 138.5mb ( out of 140mb ) , when NSU crashed. Literally just 1.5mb from the end of the download.

I tried and tried after that to re-surrect it, but to no avail.Every time after that, NSU kept telling me the software update failed. THe next time I could try was two days later, on 29th Oct, but at which time, the v20 update had been withdrawn for all MENA Product Codes, and I kpet getting told that v12 was the latest.

THe phone has not been working very well, and there is no information from anyone on here regarding release dates. Customer Care MENA tell me that the software update has not been withdrawn and to go online and update. I'm going around in circles!

Glad you got yours sorted though, I bet it feel like a totally new phone!

The PR2.0 SW for your area was refreshed with a missing app and therefore the update was not available for some time. Please try again as PR2.0 is available for you according to my bookkeeping.

No it's not. I tried a lot. None of any users with Middle east and north Africa get this firmware

I totally agree with u, I am in north Africa, we still don't have v2.0 update although it first appeared last week and we didn't have the chance to download it until it was withdrawn and never show up again.

my N97 has a code 0575743.

I appreciate any one having any information about this and when it will be available again.

someone was fast enough and updated his/her phone

one guy sended me link with the new software (v20.0.019) my code was listed there in log file (0575743)

i searched over the interent and found the way to update my phone. and it worked perfectly )

Hi jauhis, 

This is such a frustrating experience!!

I've just been onto the 'Can I Update" section, and entered in my Product Code, and again, get told that the latest FW is v12 - still no signs of v20 / v2.0. I try this at least several times a day, this is how desperate I am to get hold of the new FW, as it is the only way I can think of to get my phone working in the way it should.

As mentioned, the other night, I tried ALL the MENA Product Codes and all of them were showing that v12 is the latest. 

I even tried connecting the phone to NSU and go online, but still I get told that v12 is the latest.

Any suggestions?
