Please can you advise what we did wrong in the UK.
Why is there still no v12 FW for the N97 in the UK?
Please say it isn't going to be this rediculous when it comes to v20 in October.

I was kind of hopeful as Nokia have made out that N97 users would get good support and a modicum of respect from Nokia. Also v11 seemed to release in the UK at about the same time as the rest of the world.
Obviously I was wrong.

I've been trying to get an answer out of various people at Nokia UK and have not got a sensible explanation as to why the UK is treated differently.
I too am getting annoyed by the inexcusable delays that seems to happen to all UK specific models now. I asked them the question why are we so different than countries like Spain or Italy that got the update on day one of it's release. As expected I got no (sensible) reply.
Perhaps it's time that all of the UK users that are sick of waiting started one thread to raise awareness? If others are with me i'll be willing to start it to make the thread more noticeable.

I'll go along with that.
I can understand the delays with Networks but can't understand the delays with the Generic Firmware.
One Classic example. the 5800 UK CV 0575581 and the 5800 British Isles Red 0552438
The British Isles Red (and the blue one too) gets an update straight away V30 for example. the UK CV red is still waiting. If you check the files used in the Flash Packages for both of these phones, the Files are EXACTLY the same. No different language packs or special content. so why the X amount of weeks delay just to add the product code.

Sounds good to me.
At the moment it seems that the only option that UK N97 owners have is to change their product code to the EMEA_EURO_QW1 version so as to get the firmware when it is actually released for the rest of the world, but of course this means you loose your warrantee.
Is it just that Nokia want us to do this to save them having to stump the cost of a ll the faulty units being returned?

That is bad, especially if you have an unbranded phone.
Hopefully raising awareness of the issue in one country (that receives a lot of regular complaints) may help solve the issue for everyone everywhere.
I'm probably **bleep**ing in the wind but no harm done in trying!

I thought it was just me in Singapore who was being left behind. I have an unbranded N97 running v11 with no sign of version 12.
Mark.

I've just received an email from Nokia to say that the firmware for the UK generic unbranded N97s (those on model number 0585162) will be getting firmware 12.0.024 'soon'.
This was encouraging as they usually give out a standard useless response banging on about model numbers, network operators or even a simple don't know. A date would have been better but at least it wasn't the usual junk they reply with.
Lets hope it's true. As you say it's certainly encouraging. Fingers crossed they act quicker when v20 is released!

Oooh, I had a reply on 9th which told me "Shortly".Is that better or worse?!
My reply was also personal as I specifically stated I had a generic (non-carrier crippled) model.
