N97 v.2 Objective critsism

N97 v.2.0. Objective criticism and thoughts.

Maybe it’s in vane, but I hope that this topic will be like a clean start regarding N97 and the coming upgrade. As so many others I really do like my N97, although it sometimes can make me frustrated. But, that only happens when I drain the battery totally. When that happens I do need to be patient until there’s enough energy charged.

Anyway, I do also know that some have legit problems.

But, I also have  the feeling that in many instances reported problems are self-inflicted. Maybe I am wrong, but I do not think so. My suggestion is that we do a little evaluation of our problem before we post it here. Ex. The problem with the lens cover has got nothing to do here. That’s a physical repair issue, and you should bring your phone back to where you bought it for repairs.
If you force-feed your phone with 3. Parties’ software, P2P music, videos etc. then the possibility that the problems you face most likely is connected to software coming from another source than Nokia, and should not be discussed here.

So, that said, over to v.2.

I really believe that Nokia could do better regarding information. A lot better. It should not be so difficult for Nokia to put together a newsletter, and post it here before the leave work in the afternoon. That would satisfy a lot of people, and also make us able to address explicit issues than sulk like spoiled children.

Re: N97 v.2 Objective critsism

Well, first impression - much more responsive.

But, there is something strange with the wlan - connection. Nothing happens, and I have to hit the red phone symbol to get away from the settings.

Has anyone else tested this?

Re: N97 v.2 Objective critsism

I can't access "destinations" anymore??

When I press it it says "system failure".

And the N97 keeps asking for a connection as well.

Can you all check please?

Re: N97 v.2 Objective critsism

My main issue before v.2 was bad performance showning streaming video from the web and this is still an issue after updateing.

After about 20 sec into the stream it starts stuttering, unwatcheble .... anyone that has a clue ??

Also I was expected more visible changes ... the kinetic stuff is ok but nothing else feels different ... :smileysad:

According to NSU the "Latest available software for  Nokia N97, product code 0570817
Version:  12.0.024

Compare numbers"

so i would guess thats why its not working

You must still be looking at V12 not V20 or nokia have pulled version 20 on some n97 variants so may be your version is not fully developed and has the bugs you mentioned so you will need to update again when it is released for your model
