Unbranded N97 RM-505, Product Code: 0575743 bought in United Arab Emarates... Update 20.0 is fiction for me. It's been almost 3 weeks now!!

BIG Nokia fan lost!

And please don't treat people on this forum like idiots and start posting "How to update your software" guides! I'm sure every geek on this discussion including myself know wxactly how to do that.

Thanx

People, give up nokia now before you regret it! This kinetic scrolling is a mistake and if you ever seen how this kinetic scrolling works in iPhone you would change your mind. I never believed I'm gonna buy an iPhone but there you go and you know what? The most interesting thing is that I am not worried if the feature I'm going into in my phone is going to work or not. Everything works great with no hiccups. After 10 years being with nokia phones only I am literally amazed how smoothly iPhone works, even after jailbreak and tens of games and application. You people should really familiarize yourself with an iPhone. I'm talking to the iphone haters and nokia lovers as I was one of them until they released v20 for the n97. Yes, iphone is a totally different system but trust me guys, it is worth it. There IS a reason behind the price and not like the n97 price of 449GBP. I should really leave this forum now, but because I keep getting notifications with new posts here I am disgusted when I see people still getting issues with n97 and the majority of people in the world still running v12 or even v11 even though remember v20 is a not big deal, that is why I am ex owner now.

N97 software update 2.0 & connecttion To PC via USB issue

Hey all,

I have a Nokia 0587691 model which I bought off a privat person (RM-505).

I have 2 issues:

1- the device does not correctly connect to the PC. The OVI software states that the USB-MODE is not in PC-Mode, whilst I did select that option. I cannot sync with my outlook data now.

2- the software update does not work through the PC nor through the *#0000# method.

Any help?  Please?

Thanks in advance!

Do a  hard reset -

- Remove Refit Battery

- Hold down Arrow Up, Spacebar, Backspace and switch on

The phone should come to life asking which country you are in.

Reinstall latest firmware using NSU

Format E Mass Memory Drive.

Dont wish to upset you but you are describing all the symptoms of a FAKE / CLONE handset

Hi, for all you people waiting for the v2.0 update.

If you think your problems will be resolved with this update, then think again.

Its so sad I was really looking forward to this phone.

The theory side of the phone fantastic, the practical side of the phone, it is a nightmare!

Good Luck you guys

J

Re: N97 software update 2.0 & connecttion To PC via USB issue

Well, I got the SMS from Nokia yesterday saying I had a software update waiting for me and sure enough V20.*.19 popped straight onto the phone.  I thought great :smileyhappy: but now I'm not so sure... :smileysad:

First thing I noticed was that Maps didn't work. Application starts it displays a map of my home area and then the app terminates. Google maps is OK, so what have they done to Nokia's maps?

Then I find out today that I cannot receive or make a phone call!  :smileymad:  SIM's OK because it works fine in my old phone.

I now have a phone that's not a phone! I can send and receive SMS, and my internet is fine, but I cannot say hello.  I also find that if I dial *#06# to get the IMEI number, I get a blank.  Surely Nokia would test their firmware releases? This is fundamental stuff? :smileyindifferent:

So I've emailed customer support and I wait.... How long do you think I'll have to wait?  The auto response says 48 hours, well we'll see.

Anyone know how to revert to V12? It's probably not possible, something that's not considered in this technical age.
