Wow, that appears to be the black uk unbranded handset.. I've got the same product description, but the unbranded white version..
When checking the online, the website appears to report chronically out of date information. My phone was upgraded to v12 some time last week
0585162: N97 UK CV B (running v20, website says v12)
0587240: N97 UK CV W (running v12, website says v11)
Each firmware release has been some time later for the white handset.. V11 was 3 weeks behind the black version, iirc I never understood why..
Maybe the colour makes all the difference..
Nokia need to test that the phone plays the correct ring tone, that the slide lock unlocks the phone, that the back ligth turns on, that the fonts don't randomly change size.. ok it works.. but now we need to test AGAIN.. because plastic dye can make ALL the difference.. who'd have though pigmentation would make things so complex..
I'll eagarly wait to check again this evening!

I've had V20 running since it was released (without any hard resets before or after the update).
I generally keep Gravity and Google Reader (running on the native web browser) running in the background.
Of the 30-or-so phone calls I have received since the update, I haven't had the hang-on-answer bug once (where it used to happen regularly with V12).
Since the update, I have (thankfully) not heard the Nokia tune again.
Also, according to @TMS233 (PR for Nokia SA), the update has not been pulled (for South Africa at least).
My product code is 0576560.

Some other (minor) changes I've seen in V20:
On startup, if you type in the incorrect pin, the phone now tells you how many attempts you have left to enter in the correct pin.
If the phone is locked, and you receive a call, the wording on the "Answer" and "Unlock" sliders have changed to "Slide to Answer" and "Slide to Unlock".
The drawing application has been updated.

It's still available, but not for all product codes. It was pulled for the Black Generic Euro 1 handset (product code 0570817) but that is back on the servers now for download. Nokia's website was saying 12.0.024 was current, but it now states 20.0.019 is the current firmware for this product code so things are moving forward again.

Hi.
I've successfully updated for the v 20.x.xxx, but I still don't see any improvement concerning the size of free phone memory. What the "Improved memory" statement means then?
Also, Ovi Maps was not updated to v3.1 automatically, so I guess I have to download an updated version of Ovi Maps separately, am I right?
thnx

That is a shame, as it seems to of improved on mine ![]()
I called up N97 support line today and I can take my phone into a Nokia repair centre to get the camera cover changed over under warranty, they have developed a new lense which "should" stop the scratching to it.
You could try taking your phone with the GPS issue to a nokia repair centre to see what theyve got to say, I work mon-fri so wont be able to take mine in until im on hols in a couple of weeks, they only need it 24 hours.

What I dont get is why black uk unbranded got v11 befor the white one? Surly they are the same phone under the cover?
Realy getting fed up with Nokia and these firmware updates now!! Oct is nearly over and if they dont deliver the update this month to the UK as promised then hey have blatantly lied to us all.
Does the IPhone Beckon?
What is worse is that I am tempted to sell my N97 and get a N900 but am guessing that since it would appear that nokia care only about shifting boxes and not supporting them, that the N900 will have firmware issues as well.
I do apreciate that all phones have issues, but in teh case of the IPhone updates are iissued quickly, comunication is good with the customer about updates and everyone in the world get the update at the same time!!

Are there any UK v2 updates out there?
Am really gonna have to do that of which we dont speak if it gets to Nov 1st and there is no update.

I did "that which we don't speak of on here" last night and upgraded to v 20 via pc suite in windows xp. Would definately suggest doing *#7370# reset after installing new software. Phone now works like a dream. From reading these forums mine was never one of the worst anyway, crashed less than once a week and only other bug was that flamin nokia tune which whilst as irritating as hell was nothing more than an annoyance. Phone still rang, call still connected, just got a carp tune instead of my usual Iron Maiden.
TBH my N95-1 was a far worse phone than this will ever be, had 3 before I got a properly functioning one and even then had to find out how to do "that which we don't speak of" in order to get the up to date software t-mobile was depriving me of that was a quantum leap in phone performance
I guess what I am trying to say is that Nokia's have been a bit temperamental for a while now, N70 was the last one I had that never had a bug and that is still up and running (as a spare phone) after several years
The latest software is key to the phone running as it should so for anyone waiting for V20 in the UK I say Carpe Diem and you won't be disappointed
