Nokia N97 software update 2.0  
Nokia N97 software update 2.0 (version number 20.0.019, 20.1.021 and 20.2.019 depending on your region) is now available through the Nokia Software Updater. The software update will make your N97 perform even better, through numerous fixes, improvements, new features and new functions.

Software availability
As usual, we have published standard non-customised versions of the software, with country (SIM-free) and operator versions following over the next few days and weeks. The Nokia N97 (and several other devices) can check automatically for new software. Go to Menu > Applications > SW Update and enable automatic checking. MyNokia members will also receive an SMS stating "new software is available" as the deployment progresses. To register, go to www.nokia.com/mynokia.

Using your PC to update
Initially, this software update is only available through the Nokia Software Updater. Due to wealth of new content available in this release, the over-the-air "FOTA" packages are larger than normal (around 17MB) and to allow for sufficient testing, delivery will be slightly delayed.

What's new
The software contains many fixes and improvements including:

• Improved touch screen scrolling
• Ovi Maps 3.1 with 3–D maps
• Nokia e-mail, Ovi Contacts, Ovi Store
• Improved memory and battery performance
• Improved image and video stability

Nokia considers changelogs to be confidential information. You will never see one officially released.

I've just re-read the post and no specific country has been ignored as such. Jauhis did say that "generic" versions were released (ie. euro1, emea etc.) with country [...] variants to follow over the coming days and weeks.

I know how it works and what he said, just pointing out the fact that even after an article in the Guardian the UK is still left out from the initial release.

Nokia seriously need to sort this or risk losing loyal customers that are actually fairly happy at the hardware but sick of the poor support.

here in Germany the new firmware is not out yet... I have a not branded N97 RM505 and via OVI Suite 2.0 (Software updater included) my version 12.0.026 ist the latest version.... does anyone have any information when it will be out here in Germany???

What are are doing Nokia? Can you please tell me when the UK version will be released. I have a unbranded handset bought from a Nokia store. Please answer this question?

Yea i  got he update but there is no new applications addeded, no cnn nothing. Its jus same with bug fixed and added kinetic scrolling

Even if 2.0 was available in the UK, I'm on a Mac system. There's no version of Nokia Software Updater for Mac.

Flagship phones tend to be bought first by early adopters. Many early adopters also own Macs. People who own Macs are likely to buy iPhones. To take market share away from Apple, a competitor's flagship phone needs to work as well as an iPhone with Macs as well as PCs. Are you listening Nokia? Hello? Helllllllllooooooo-oooo? Nope? Thought not.

This formerly loyal Nokia customer will be buying an iPhone. I'm sick of having to sync to my old N95 in order to transfer my data from my Mac onto my N97.

Nokia, you are Muppets.

I like my N97, then again coming from windows mobile I'm tolerant of early faults but considering changelogs confidential? that's just moronic. Yeah, God knows you don't want your competitors reading change logs, I wonder if they will have the same attitude to maemo when it gains general acceptance.
