I appreciate it very much that Nokia (xbungle) informes us about the new firmware. Thank you.
I have in some way the same question as erura, but from another point:
I didn't read anything about memory managment, but I thought that the problem with Ovi Maps 3.03 for the N97 was the memory handling of the N97.

The software contains many fixes and improvements on the earlier releases including:
- Improved call reliability

Warm regards,
The Nokia Software Update team
to cut it short....
NO IMPROVEMENTS AT ALL
NO sensor improvements
NO cut and paste keyboard shotcut
NO ringtone fix
NO DivX support
NO Restarting issue fix
Great Job guys ;-)))

@xbungle Thank you very much ; 1 For the update, and more importantly 2. For keeping us informed (a notice yesterday would've been ideal even if just to say announcement not quite ready and would've stopped moaning here because people are now so suspicious) a huge and muchappreciated improvement.
I'm also reasonably confidant that it should do the job as a lot of testing seems to have gone into it - will it include Ovi Maps 3.03 rolled into it? or should we update to that first and then V2.1 or other way round?

I have to say that as the customer this is the type of information that I would like to see communicated more swiftly, Nokia is a day late with this information update and would have received less criticism by telling us earlier that the firmware update would be a couple of days late.
That said I will wait to see what improvements this firmware update it brings, because as xbungle quotes:
What's new
The software contains many fixes and improvements on the earlier releases including:
What I am hoping is that xbungle has highlighted the most visible improvements but that there are many more under the hood improvements for stability and the likes, as the word 'including' seems to be the operative word in his statement in my opinion.

Many thanks for this information xbungle
I am sure that there are many posters here, and on other boards, who will be gratified that this information has been made availale.
As expected, the update being only a minor one is for bug fixes only, and contans no new major innovations.
It looks like the maps 3.03 will be available as an additional download and not incorporated into this firmware. Probably it will be incorporated into firmware 3.0. BUT, we live in hope for our C drives and wait and see!

i believe now (sadly) the Major upgrade for Nokia N97 is to roll back to my INDESTRUCTIBLE E90 Communicator...
or to buy an HTC.
thanks for Nothing Nokia

While I appriciate the fact that some info has been released I still find it bemusing how we've got all excited by it. The guy has not even explained why it didn't arrive on the 28th as promised. Don't forget that not everybody will be getting that update on the 1st and will back on these forums to mourn about it.
Calm down folks, after all this is the N97 we dealing with it ain't gonna be easy to fix.

Hi,
I've had an N97 (product code 0570817) since early November and I'm on the O2 network and using V12.0.026 software (which is OK). I've tried NSU many times but it will not permit a further update. I wasn't too bothered about upgrading until the map update was released, which will only work with v20 software.
Who's at fault? Nokia or O2? Please help.
