In October 2009 the firmware 20.0.019 was released for N97.
Since then I'm waiting to get this update for my N97 white
with product code 0586702.
This is intolerable. I have paid 540€ for this device.
Nokia is under heavy competitive pressure, why are
you treating paying customers like this?

Hello?? Is anybody out there? If you don't like to give
individual answers the easiest way is to make a
public announcement so that the customers
understand why they have to wait since months
for an already released firmware update.
That's the least one could have expected.

Same here. There's already talk of a new, improved firmware beyond 20.0.019 on the net, and I still can't get the current firmware without voiding my guarantee. This is ridiculous.
The N97 will have been the last product I purchased from Nokia. Nevertheless, I still expect decent service for it.
Can someone from Nokia PLEASE explain this lag in the distribution of firmware upgrades?

What the hell is the problem that they can't release
the same firmware for devices with product code
0586702 (N97 Germany (DE) CV W)?
I don't get it!

I also have been waiting for v2.0, I e-mailed their customer support and she said it will be out sometime in January and its
already January 2010! Also, Nokia just ripped me off from the $50 Mail-In-Rebate(MIR). I sent in all the requested information
and 3 weeks later, they sent me a letter saying I am not eligible, so I call their customer support and she said I have to send
everything in again?!?!? I just cut the damn barcode out of my box and mailed it in, do I have another one? No....there goes
$50, stupid letter doesn't even state anything. I quote "The mobile phone purchased is not valid for this offer" Does it tell me
WHY? NO IT DOES NOT, ain't buying another Nokia product, getting ripped off.

well, they're the only one that have a generic patcher and are able to patch regardless of the product code or operator lock. Note: Even if they can, they are not allowed to patch operator varient phones with a generic firmware.

Today they announced that v.2.1 is out but I still don't get it for my N97 with product code 0586702.

Dear All,
Yesterday I was able to update my N97 to the latest version 21.0.045 dated 14-01-10, and it can be done only via OVI Suite not OTA, I live in Cairo, Egypt, and the main complain about the new software is the internal phone memory again, before this update an since I ran the Memory Optimizer that Nokia had offered several weeks ago my phone internal memory was around 21: 22 MB, after I installed the latest software the available space shrunk down to 14.3MB and that is a complete nonsense from NOKIA.
As we all expect, a new software must provide bug fixes, more reliability ..etc. but not eating up the free space of the device.
I would like to tell NOKIA a little – but meaningful- story , I am an Apple user, and 2 months ago before I updated my MacBook Pro from the “Leopard” to the newest Mac OSX “Snow Leopard” I have 330 GB of free space on my HD, after I installed the new operating system this free space was increased by 30 GB (total free space 360 GB) .
That’s what we expect to gain from an update.
