On the autorotate.

That was a bug that appeared with the earlier firmware also after a restore of settings. :smileysad:

This usually works for me:

Menu Settings, Phone, Sensor settings

Turning control, Remove Auto-rotate tick, OK, back

Turning control, Sensors, OFF, Back

Turn phone off&on

Menu Settings, Phone, Sensor settings

Turning control, Sensors, ON, Back

Turning control, Set Auto-rotate tick, OK, back

:smileyhappy:

(And NO, the auto-rotate alone, is often not enough, do both, and in the prescribed order)

Re: N97 Mini Firmware Update 30.0.004

Has Nokia stopped offering the update for the N97 mini? I've got a unbranded NAM RM553 and it's been a few months since the initial firmware was released and still nothing. From reading this thread it's been a bit buggy!

@9252fly
Well unless you REALLY feel you need it, I would recommend to stay on 12.0.110 ...
The (only?) important improvement is the new browser, but if you (as so many others) are using Opera Mini/Mobile anyhow, then who cares? Opera are still better.

The Emoticons thing LOOKS fancy, but are not fully implemented, and only work when you sms to other Nokia phones, since the encoding are not standardized, so this is actually more a pest than a feature, since you have no idea if the recipient can see it correctly or at all ...

And they haven't even implemented it in the new horrible(!) email client.

I've read your reviews of this firmware update and I agree that it may not be worth the trouble. It's very unfortunate as I would have thought Nokia would have tested thoroughly before releasing it. It's my hope that when and if it becomes available for my RM553,the reviews will be kinder.

Re: N97 Mini Firmware Update 30.0.004

@tudosan

Yoy wrote "downloads" with an "s", is that a typo?

It has no problems in finding files in my "F:\download" folder on my memorycard.

You MIGHT try to select the "Remove F: memory card" at the bottom of the power off/profile selection menu.

And then remove the card

And after some seconds reinsert it.

But be aware that not all programs pointing to the memory card handles this well, so be sure to close as many programs and processes as possible first. I use this one

(and sorry it is not completely free)

@meow90
If it is a branded phone, that could be what is delaying the update,
The provider must merge all their s**t into the firmware first. And on older phones like this, there is a great risk of it getting very low priority.

"Downloads" that's the name, it's in Photos from the Menu, sorry I didn't mention it before. I have 85 pics in there from my laptop but I cannot enter. the pictures are saved on the phone's memory not on the card. If I use the file manager I can find and see them but individually.
thank you for you reply

I can't find that menu entry. Did you do the photo update? I avoided that (having issues with it on the previous firmware - forgot what was wrong with it though) . They should appear in "All".

Can you see the files in filemanager on the phone?

You might try this one

Re: N97 Mini Firmware Update 30.0.004

@Eske Rahn

here are 2 pics with the Menu and Photos. in the second one you can see "downloads" There it used to be all the pictures from all around the memory (phone and card), pictures added by laptop! Before the hard reset it showed 85 pics witch I could find and view with filmmaker but not by "downloads"

After hard reset the pictures are gone but I still cannot enter "downloads" , I press it and nothing,

all this happened after firmware update

thank you

Re: N97 Mini Firmware Update 30.0.004

I hope Nokia is listening to this thread and fix the buggy memory issues that crept up after the FW upgrade. Can't even browse while listening to music (no other applications in the background - sounds strange?)
Apart from the fact that I had a dent on my car trying to close the "Memory full" alert that crept up while using maps while driving around! I stopped using my phone and prefer stopping by road-side to check with the localites for directions!

Indeed, using handy task man, once the phone restarts, I have approx 40-47mb free ram which when used over a period of time drops out to 20 mb (not even a day usage) while no other apps running in the background and homescreen with standard widgets (not even the ones that connect to internet)

E-mails with Exchange seemed to be working fine till last night (yahoo/gmail/hotmail would stop syincing till you e-mail Nokia support about your issue. Once you receive a response, it would work for few more days before which it quits working).

I heard Nokia is releasing a FW update to N8s. I'd be glad if Nokia gives me the option atleast to roll back to the 12.xxx FW or release a new update fixing the memory issues with the current update (I'm not expecting any new features but get the current features working properly or let me roll back to the previous version) The current FW update is quite annoying that I'm bidding a bye to Nokia very soon!

Re: N97 Mini Firmware Update 30.0.004

To add to the above, I'm using Nokia N97 mini; the flagship model that Nokia released before their branding of N8. I'm least hopeful that Nokia would release an update to FW for N97 minis along with the update that they release for N8s, but if they do, I don't think that they would fix the memory issues reported but get their re-branding of OVI to Nokia! Cheaters....

Re: N97 Mini Firmware Update 30.0.004

@tudosan

If you look in apps, do you have Photos in version 1.0.1?

I still have it as an optional update in Suite.

I tried the new version when i was on version 12, and am not going to repeat that error on version 30...

The screen dump looks different, so I'm pretty sure you got the 1.0.1

You could try to uninstall the 1.0.1 and reinstall it.

When I tested it I uninstalled it to get the old version, that did only partly work, they had destroyed something, so werent no good either.

@Muthukumarp

I use a task manager and kill all that I can, and that keeps it at about 45Mb free

But when ever I have used an app, I make sure it exits, or kill it explicitely, including processes.

Very tedious, but at least it renders the phones usable for several days without a need for a reboot.

Whenever it get below about 35Mb in idle mode I reboot it.

Re: N97 Mini Firmware Update 30.0.004

It's a disaster. My mobile phone has become totally useless. Apart from the fact that it became very slow, the battery lasts only for a few hours. It's amazing how they did it.

Re: N97 Mini Firmware Update 30.0.004

If you change the product code from 0591741 to another non-branded code it will update. Sorry,not permitted to tell you how it's done other than it's very easy. Do a internet search and you will likely find the answer. Depending on the language you need on the phone pick an appropriate product code and once changed the phone will want to update.
