On the autorotate.
That was a bug that appeared with the earlier firmware also after a restore of settings. ![]()
This usually works for me:
Menu Settings, Phone, Sensor settings
Turning control, Remove Auto-rotate tick, OK, back
Turning control, Sensors, OFF, Back
Turn phone off&on
Menu Settings, Phone, Sensor settings
Turning control, Sensors, ON, Back
Turning control, Set Auto-rotate tick, OK, back
![]()
(And NO, the auto-rotate alone, is often not enough, do both, and in the prescribed order)

@9252fly
Well unless you REALLY feel you need it, I would recommend to stay on 12.0.110 ...
The (only?) important improvement is the new browser, but if you (as so many others) are using Opera Mini/Mobile anyhow, then who cares? Opera are still better.
The Emoticons thing LOOKS fancy, but are not fully implemented, and only work when you sms to other Nokia phones, since the encoding are not standardized, so this is actually more a pest than a feature, since you have no idea if the recipient can see it correctly or at all ...
And they haven't even implemented it in the new horrible(!) email client.

I've read your reviews of this firmware update and I agree that it may not be worth the trouble. It's very unfortunate as I would have thought Nokia would have tested thoroughly before releasing it. It's my hope that when and if it becomes available for my RM553,the reviews will be kinder.

I am no longer able to access the folder downloads from photos. I used soft and hard reset but still nothing.any ideas? tnx

Yoy wrote "downloads" with an "s", is that a typo?
It has no problems in finding files in my "F:\download" folder on my memorycard.
You MIGHT try to select the "Remove F: memory card" at the bottom of the power off/profile selection menu.
And then remove the card
And after some seconds reinsert it.
But be aware that not all programs pointing to the memory card handles this well, so be sure to close as many programs and processes as possible first. I use this one

(and sorry it is not completely free)

@meow90
If it is a branded phone, that could be what is delaying the update,
The provider must merge all their s**t into the firmware first. And on older phones like this, there is a great risk of it getting very low priority.

"Downloads" that's the name, it's in Photos from the Menu, sorry I didn't mention it before. I have 85 pics in there from my laptop but I cannot enter. the pictures are saved on the phone's memory not on the card. If I use the file manager I can find and see them but individually.
thank you for you reply

@tudosan
I can't find that menu entry. Did you do the photo update? I avoided that (having issues with it on the previous firmware - forgot what was wrong with it though) . They should appear in "All".
Can you see the files in filemanager on the phone?
You might try this one

@Eske Rahn
here are 2 pics with the Menu and Photos. in the second one you can see "downloads" There it used to be all the pictures from all around the memory (phone and card), pictures added by laptop! Before the hard reset it showed 85 pics witch I could find and view with filmmaker but not by "downloads"
After hard reset the pictures are gone but I still cannot enter "downloads" , I press it and nothing,
all this happened after firmware update
thank you

If you look in apps, do you have Photos in version 1.0.1?
I still have it as an optional update in Suite.
I tried the new version when i was on version 12, and am not going to repeat that error on version 30...
The screen dump looks different, so I'm pretty sure you got the 1.0.1
You could try to uninstall the 1.0.1 and reinstall it.
When I tested it I uninstalled it to get the old version, that did only partly work, they had destroyed something, so werent no good either.

I use a task manager and kill all that I can, and that keeps it at about 45Mb free
But when ever I have used an app, I make sure it exits, or kill it explicitely, including processes.
Very tedious, but at least it renders the phones usable for several days without a need for a reboot.
Whenever it get below about 35Mb in idle mode I reboot it.

It's a disaster. My mobile phone has become totally useless. Apart from the fact that it became very slow, the battery lasts only for a few hours. It's amazing how they did it.
