Hi,
I upgraded to the new version 20 firmware the other day... A few things which are not better than v12 (or is it just me)?? 1) you cannot see more than 2 entries on Active standy for the calendar. 2) when you turn the battery tones on silent - you still get an alert when charging or the battery is full 3) when connected to a bluetooth handsfree car kit - in v12 you could set a profile with no warning tones/ i.e. no low battery alert. on v20 I have done then same but it does not work - prompting my car kit to turn off the radio every few minutes to connect to the phone! I have flashed it 3 times now, so it does not look like the handset?
Any ideas - or anybody having the same... might as well get a roll back to v12 if that would ever be possible without frying the handset....
Cheers

With regard to the issue of there still being a tone when the battery is fully charged even in silent profile, I suspect that this is not a bug but a feature. In recent phones like the N96, Nokia introduced the pop-up message asking you to disconnect the charger for invironmental reasons, so it seems logical that they would want to draw your attention to the full battery even if you didn't happen to be looking at the phone at the time.
The new notification beeps that came with v20 are quieter than in previous models, perhaps this is the reason - they still want to warn the user of the phone but don't want to make a loud noise in case the user is somewhere where a loud beep should not be heard.

The calendar thing is sti;ll a pain. It will only show you 2, The thing is, if you have 3 or 4 entries for the day you cant see them. Only by going in.
Sucks....

Yes!!! the voicemail thing!!
you can save it in speed dial! have tried many times and even reflashed firmware!!
Nokia N96 is really gone\going backwards... not helping towards forking out for the N97... almost time to change handsets with regret! But still have to live with this one for 8 months!!!

Is your phone unbranded, sim-free Nokia? Is your phone European one?

Hello, I just updated my wife’s N96, the update went smooth and according to the instructions on the Nokia web pages. Then I did do a backup restore (I did a fresh backup to the Nokia memory card), and during the restore a error message flashed with something like " Error in standby theme", the phone resets the language settings to Finnish after the update so the translation is not necessary correct.
Then after the restore and reboot the whole main view of the N96 is not responsive to any other thing than going through the menu icons. Normal calendar markings, wlan, etc. rows are also blank, they appear there but they doesn’t show anything.
Tried to do a *#7370# reset but even without doing the restore function the end result is the same."Traditional" and "vertical" standby themes work ok.br. M

I posted a new thread but do not do #7370# on the N96 it is broken on the current firmware and can damange the OS.
it can be done by holding down green dial key, star (*) key and number three (3) key, when switching
the device on from power key. Hold down all three keys until Nokia welcome animation is
showed.
NSU also appears to have problems with this build, but not to fear as it doesn't damage the software, just restarts the phone
unexpectedly

Right!!! The &%((*&%%inGG voicemail thing!
I did a factory reset last night! - It seemed to have fixed the voicemail speed dial.
It no longer gets lost now.
Just beware - make sure you have your stuff backed up and the backup works!
I spent the rest of the evening, trying to reinstall apps and seeing which ones "would not install from memory card, please use app manager" NOKIA what are you doing.... For the price you pay for these hand sets the bugs you get!! Its a great deal! win win for the consumer!
