N95 v20.0.015 PROBLEMS!

First of all thanks to Nokia for amazing firmware except for HUGE problems;

- Music Player hissing noise (in earphones/speaker)
- Music Player crashes
- Themes Icon Missing!
- Music Player Speaker Volume weaker
- No improvement done to Loudness at all
- No option to remove NGAGE application off phone or Search feature which gives more room in C:/
- MyNokia useless application taking up space
- Welcome Demo useless
- No option to take Search: Internet & My content off IDLE screen

Think Nokia should ditch v20.0.015 from the NSU & put up v21

Ok, care to share any positives or are you being negative about very trivial things?

Also i don't experience any of the music problems you have, and I doubt My Nokia takes much space.

My problems are:

Data transfer reconnects (instantly) after selecting 'Eject' in my computer.

Applications no longer shut down, have to force them to close with taskman

Positives are:

Memory!

GPS seems much faster

Search on Active Standby

Re: N95 v20.0.015 PROBLEMS!

I have the same issues as you where i can't seem to exit any apps. You go to exit, it dumps you to desktop, but the apps are still in the task manager until you manually close them with C.

Oh well... I don't mind because this firmware has completely changed my phone.

I have a question for you guys, are you able to type into the search box in active standby or do you have to hit enter and then type?

Also, when i open search from active standby, it takes 5-6 full seconds to load during which my phone is a bit frozen. Can anyone explain to me how they use the active standby search? I think mine is messed up

Re: N95 v20.0.015 PROBLEMS!

The active search on the desktop is just a link to the search app I thought?

Or at least that's how mine behaves.

So it's enter then type for me

Gotcha, same with mine.

When you hit enter does it load instantly, or does it pause for several seconds?

Re: N95 v20.0.015 PROBLEMS!

I'd say there is about a 3 second pause before the search loads

Re: N95 v20.0.015 PROBLEMS!

Just figured something out, seems it's Handy Taskman that's caused the program close issue.

Uninstalled it, and the used only the standard task manager, and things ain't staying open.

Put it back on, and BAM! there they are.

Re: N95 v20.0.015 PROBLEMS!

Hi
I installed v20.0.015 on a N95 and now the phone regularly locks up completely or restarts for no reason. It's made the phone pretty useless. Has anyone else had this problem?

handy taskman actually shows apps that u think are closed but are actually running unknown in the background especially log and contacts
the standard taskman doesnt have the ability to do it
reinstall handytaskman and look at the ram when you close an application

Re: N95 v20.0.015 PROBLEMS!

I have to agree that the problems people have been having with the new version are so negligable... can't people appreciate the improvements without having a moan?

The latest version is fantastic in my opinion, itr's almost like having a new phone - the gallery speed is phenomenal, and I like the new sorftware arrangement.

To complain about the absence of the Themes icon is just silly when it's right there in the settings menu!

I've now noticed that Best Taskman does the same thing, since this didn't occur on v12, I wonder if they're picking up on some function of demand paging or something.

Re: N95 v20.0.015 PROBLEMS!

I've just debranded and stuck this version on. my camera is actually worth having now as before it was just so shockingly show to start up and it often failed all together. It really flows well now. So I really appreciate the new version.

I have had some issues that I thought someone may be able to shed some light on; if I try and restore the backup I made just before I debranded etc it not only messes up the main screen of the phone which seem only to be fixed when I reinstall the firmware, it also gets to 74% restore and locks up, so it doesn't complete the restore. I'm even careful to use the same product code that the backup was made with; I took too backups one with the re-written product code and one with the old product code, neither will restore. Any thoughts? At the moment I'm waited for my Noki license code so I can at least extract all my contacts again (even if one by one).

Your wisdom would be appreciated.

Re: N95 v20.0.015 PROBLEMS!

I wouldn't bother with the restore (aside from contacts/messages/calendar), transferring branded settings to non-branded firmware is asking for trouble.

What code you are using wont make a difference either, that's not something that's taken into account during backup/restore.

Re: N95 v20.0.015 PROBLEMS!

Yeah, I used noki on the end to get my hands on everything, I put them on the phone as a text file and the N95 is smart enough to see the number and let me store them. It's a little time comusing, but I'm doing a bit at a time starting with my most important contacts. My N95 is so much better now that it was with all the **bleep**py Orange branded I make your phone not work software!

I used the euro 1 product code. Then installed v20.
