Snooze bug

Hi,

you are not alone. I have reproduced the "snooze bug" this morning on my N95 8GB FW 31.0.015. And there is also a thread: Click here

Greetings.

Re: Snooze bug

Hi,

I am with the FW version of 31.0.015 on my N95-8GB.  I tested it, but I didn't get that Snooze bug. I checked the many times and didn't encounter any of bugs you guys are found. I am very happy with this new FW :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Snooze bug

Hi prince2k,

it all depends on the scenario. When was the alarm set, was the phone completely switched off, is it attached to a charger, SIM card inserted, things like this.

It is not possible to duplicate the snooze bug during the day. Only like this:

Set "new quick alarm" for the next day

Switch the phone completely off

do not charge it

when the alarm goes off the next day, press snooze

wait for 10 minutes

switch on the phone

see what happens

I know it sounds kind of weird, but with all the problems that arise with all newer FW, something really got messed up at Nokia. And all I have asked for is the volume control from 0 - 100 instead of 0 - 10 :smileysad:

Re: Snooze bug

Hi videoschabe,

Here are the circumstances the test I done on my phone.

  • As usually SIM card inserted
  • The phone is not connected to the charger (but the battery almost full)

I make an alarm at 10.30 pm for the next day at 6.00 am, switched off the phone.

  1. As expected the net morning right on 6.00 am alarm is ringing
  2. I pressed the Snooze button (that point the phone itself switched off)
  3. and after 5 minutes the alarm is ringing again, that time I stopped the alarm.
  4. After stopping the alarm, the phone ask me to whether switched the phone on or off, that point I press the on.

is any thing missed on my test?  :smileyindifferent:

Re: Snooze bug

Have you all done the updates by yourself? I mean at home and not by NSC?
Please reply for my posts also! Thanks in advance.

Hi prince2k,

as I was saying, it all depends on the scenario; I have just mentioned some of the various parameters, that may or may not trigger the bug. There is a separate thread.

I did the first updates via NSU then got a fresh install from the local Nokia Service.

Greetings.

Re: N95 8GB does it yet again!

very sad to notice that the latest Nokia Software Upgrade for my E66, 210.21.007, still didn't fix the alarm-clock bug :smileysad:.

My phone keeps "jumping" 3 days later, minutes after the  alarm-clock rings and I start the phone. As before, this doesn't happen if I choose not to start the phone, but to manually start it immediately after.

very disappointed with Nokia :smileysad: !!!

Re: Workaround works

hi!!

i have e66...all of the problems you guys are finding i have them too and couple more as well...

for example i couldnt send an sms to anybody because i couldnt select a contact...stupid...

anyway...my E66 is a vanilla phone..i have 200 version firmware i cant get 210 version...could it be because my phone was bought in the Netherlands? anyway i want to get rid of the bugs  dont care about language...is there any way of forcing a firmware update?

i feel riped off by nokia...paying 350 euro for a phone that doesnt work...nokia care is usless...just keep on repeating hard reset...i did it and it doesnt work. The company i bought the phone from doesnt care after all they received the money from me, why would they care?

Nokia is good only for making simple phones, phones that can send an sms or make a phone call...in smartphones nokia is really bad...Nokia is loosing market share rapidly and that because their phones are being released full of bugs...i cant believe it.. i just hope Nokia didnt lay off people that were working on new E66 firmware...if they intended to making one...bottom line...up to now i only Nokia phones starting from 2110 (with antenna) to 8210...dont remember them at all...but after this experience Nokia doesnt exists for me any more.... i m going to switch...Samsung or RIM or maybe Palm...anything except Nokia....

It may seam radical but i work hard for my money and when i spend on something that doesnt work i get really angry.

regards,

Dado

Re: Workaround works

I do have the same alarm snooze problem on my E66.

I'm lucky, I do not have the date shift problem (or I did not notice yet).

I can not understand, that Nokia can not solve this issue in 2-3 months. (see also the other thread 127387 from 15-Feb-2009 regarding this problem on N82 (31.0.016, 31.0.019) or thread 37230 for E66 Firmware 210.21.007)

I actually hoped Nokia takes care of their buisiness customers but I did not see any official defect or  ticket number for this problem and an expected solution date. Does anybody have a related Nokia ticket number which can be used at the Nokia Care Point.

Thanks to all other users to keep pushing Nokia to deliver quality!

Re: Workaround works

Almost 6 months we are waiting to correct a minor problem, very imprtant to all people which use phone as alarm. (snooze function on firmware v31, on v30 snooze works well). I think that so many long is unacceptable.

Re: N95 8GB, V 31.0.015, also affected

Hi!

No, my Nokia N95 8GB V 31.0.015 07-11-08 RM-320 is not affected.

Could the problem be a virus? What antivirus program do you have?

Re: N95 8GB, V 31.0.015, also affected

Hi,

no it is not a virus.  It is a bug. And it has been a long time since the bug was reported. And yes, we still wait more or less patiently for a fix, meanwhile looking around what others have to offer.

Greetings

Re: Snooze bug

It's a joke that this hasn't been fixed yet. I don't use Nokia products anymore as Symbian is pretty **bleep** compared to Android and iPhone but it's very irritating for my girlfriend who has inherited my N82. So today I thought they must have released a firmware update, but no, not since febuary. How can such a bug still exist? It's really unacceptable.

Hi,

go to the nearest NOKIA Carepoint and get written proof the the bugs cannot be repaired and that it is uncertain that it ever will. Then go to the place where you bought it and return it.

I have written proof that my N95 8GB cannot be fixed at his stage. The only thing I do not have is the receipt...
