Following installing the new phone software. The social app no longer loads up. I click on the icon and the loading screen comes up, then it just vanishs and nothing happens.
I also find the social widget does not work also, I am able to add it and it shows my facebook account. But it wont log in and wont do nothing.
Any fixs in place for this? anyone else having the same issue??

Did you go back and re-check for new software using the phone's software update fuction after you installed the Anna update?
You will normally be offered new social and Ovi apps after the Anna update is installed.

I uninstalled it completely off my phone and reinstalled it using the phones update software. Ive reset the phone uninstalled it and installed it using OVI on my computer. I have uninstalled it and used the OVI store to install it. All I get when I try and lauch with OVI is Error and when I try and launch it in the menu I get the loading screen and then it closes.

What happens when you try the software update option in via the phone menu?
Perhaps you could try installing them one at a time if they are offered to you.

Sorry I couldn't be of any help.
Can anybody else offer advice. Surely there have been more users with this problem?

You could try going to nokia beta labs and installing Nokia Sleeping Screen
I know it sounds random but it might just work

I also have the same issue. But it was working fine after anna update for 2/3 weeks. It suddenly stopped working one morning. I tired the same steps as in this thread. I even reinstalled firmware using ovi suite on my pc. But nothing works. I have logged query with nokia on this.

Do you have still this problem with Social client?
Did you upgrade Social application after Symbian Anna updates 1/2 and 2/2? It should be on the SW Update list. If you check by the Application Manager (Menu > Settings > Application Manager > Installed Apps.), there should be 3 components, Social, Social Home Screen Widget and Social Installed I.
Could you check the version of Social application? If you do not succeed to open Social client, you can find the version and details by tapping Social on the Application Manager > Installed application.

I tried all options to delete and reinstall. I reinstalled the device software using OVI suite. But it is the same issue. It opens a blank white screen always. Even Nokia care center could not ascertain the issue.

Select menu > Settings > Application Manager > Installed apps.
Are there Social, Social Home screen widget and Social Installer I?
Tap Social and give me the version number?

I also have had this problem. I was able to reload the Social app by using the SW update tool (look under Applications / Tools / SW Update). I tried many times to uninstall Social from my phone and also reinstall Ovi Suite but these did not work. The SW Update function bypasses OVI suite and allows the phone itself to manage the update.
Hope this works for you.

I even tried that. But nothing works. I downloaded fmobi from OVI and using that.

Hello svi78,
Any updates on this? I am still having problems. I did complete reinstall of Anna using OVI. I unintalled social and reinstalled using software update. Even tried OVI store download. Nothing seems to work. There is no response from Nokia care center as well. They just tell me to uninstall and reinstall. Planning to sell my N8 and go for Iphone.

This happens to me also, but found solution, after doing some multiple reinstall my last resot was to reset factory settings. The problem for me was when i updated to anna something from the old files i guess cause some problem with my social app.
This also happens even if i factory reset then reinstall anna part1 & 2 and every package. in this state social app is fine but when you try and restore your backup files mostly in my case every thing it cause the social to malfuntion due to some files i guess.
What i did was a last resort is when you do a reset factory setting again, then install all anna packages, then restore backup files but i exclude the settings and application. i brought back every thing except the settings and app. This was a hassel since i had to download all apps and themes and others from ovi store. But it leaves the social app as it was from the day you bought your phone.
Hopes this help. Remember factory reset removes everything even contacts from the phones so be sure you had the phone backup before doing this. I assume you did a backup before the anna update anyway. Just to be safe.
