My main point was clarifying " why is it so big in NSU and so small in FOTA " .

I don't know what's the exact difference between them .

although i have not been update my phone yet, but i think there is no difference. as i say, in FOTA, you download your own phone product code firmware only and its size is small of course. but with NSU, you download whole product codes firmware and its size must be larger than. NSU chooses between whole firmware one that related your phone and apply it.
otherwise applying 70 MB and more on a phone in fact is impossible.

Is there any code for formatting the phone manually ? i knw about " *#7370# " but it doesn't work with my N 79 . Is ther ne other code for formatting the Device ???

after entering code, press # or * again and it works.

Finally updated via FOTA for me.
but there are some buges that not been fixed.

Well, got my V11.049 through software update notification. It's about 136Mb. Update went fine.
Haven't checked for bugs yet.

it's unblivable. after i updated my phone via FOTA yesterday, today update is available for NSU.

Is SW Checker used to check the firmware version? It says Update available but then how do I update it? This N79 is my first symbian phone - -" I also use the *#0000# to check the firmware, option > Check for update but then it says no updates available. Is NAM version has the update yet? Thanks

Hi!

NSU uses a different mechanism to update the firmware than FOTA: where NSU uses a full image which is flashed onto the device, FOTA uses so called differential files. These diff files are results of a bitmap comparison between original and target firmware, and therefore a FOTA update package is significantly smaller than the whole firmware itself.

How is the New Version - 11.049 of N 79 ? Are the Loopholes like themes not shown in the task manager overcomed or is it still the same ?? Are ther any major changes . From where can i  c the list of improvements which han ben made in this latest version ? Cud u plz suggest me ?? I m very soon going to update my device through nsu ..

many bugs r fixed in the v11 firmware, but still a lot remain.

1. disable your firewall & antivirus

2. Go to Start -> Run ->type msconfig --> click Start Up tab --> remove all ticks except the ones for network --> OK

3. Restart windows

4. Run NSU again

Hi friend,

I am having N79 Uk version- RM 350.

and unfortunatly at the time of software upgradation, my mobile gone dead.

and now it is not possible to repair My N79 in india due to software version RM-350(as per NOKIA CARE INDIA).

so could you please provide  the software version what you have for RM-350 model.

as it has been 6 months, i am not finding any one to fix this problem and get my N79 alive again even NOKIA CARE India.

also non of my friend are going UK.

hence i request you..please provide the software version RM-350 if possible...
