N73 Vodafone updates now working

Have used this forum to check on what works and what does not for the N73 for some months.
Thought I would just post to anyone else who is trying to use NSU to update firmware for N73 from Vodafone.
Today installed the new version of NSU (automatic) from Nokia, then was told update is available. So tried it, held my breath, and joy, it all works fine. Now running
3.0638.0.0.1.
Can even run Tomtom with no GPS drop-outs.

Re: N73 Vodafone updates now working

It worked for me too - for a Vodafone UK branded N73.

Please, can someone tell me what the changes are in the upgrade? Is there a 'release notes' document available anywhere, containing a list of addressed issues, new features? Thanks

Re: N73 Vodafone updates now working

I managed to update my phone on Friday.

The only real problem I had was that I couldn't detect other devices using bluetooth however, other phones and devices can detect my phone.

I was hoping that the update (I got version 3.0638.0.0.1) would fix this but it hasn't, does anyone have a similar problem or any advice or suggestions on how I can remedy this?

Re: N73 Vodafone updates now working

Okay - I think I have got to the bottom of this. Do a reset on the phone. Beware - this will wipe out all data from the phone and restore to factory defaults. To do this enter *#7370#
You will be asked for a code - it is 12345 (unless its been changed by yourself).
Once this was done bluetooth found all of my devices (and a host of laptops all in my office). I successfully paired with my bluetooth headset, However, I then restored my previous backup taken with the PCSuite software. After the phone rebooted I did another bluetooth search and found nothing! I turned on the bluetooth headset that I paired earlier and this connected immediately, but bluetooth would still not find any other devices. The only thing I can think is that there is something buggy in the backup which somehow stops the bluetooth from working. I've had to do the reset again, and then re-program my phones settings manually instead of relying on the backup. This seems to have resolved all of the issues and it all seems to be working now.

No it won't. The updates will be to the original firmware - if you have Vodafone firmware you will just get an updated version of the Vodafone firmware. You will love settings etc though so make sure you have a backup.

Thanks for that.

My query was specifically regarding the reset which the other guy was suggesting by entering *#7370#, as I already have the latest firmware, am I right in thinking that if I do this it will reset to the factory settings of the vodafone firmware?

Re: N73 Vodafone updates now working

Yes Mahon, *#7370# will essentially put the phone back to the way it was when the firmware was put on. All contacts, calendar entries, gallery data, settings etc will be deleted but everything that was in the firmware will be the same.
