N73 Update - Email to Nokia's Chief Executive

Please find below the content of an email sent to Nokia's Chief Executive, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo. I hope this gets a response where all our other efforts have hit a brick wall.

The email reads:

Dear Sir

I am writing to you to seek your help in improving the customer support from Nokia, particularly in relation to the Nokia Software Update (NSU) service, and also your Customer Support service.

I would kindly ask that you ask one of your people to look at the Nokia Discussions web pages relating to Software. Also the AV Forums web site and their pages on mobile phones and specifically the N73 discussion forum. There are many separate discussion forums on the N73 alone When they report back to you they will have identified the extremely high level of complaints about the lack of access to the NSU in relation to the N73 and other phone models. The Nokia NSU web page says that updates are available for the N73 but many people cannot obtain the download. There may be very good reasons for this but Nokia does not inform people via the Discussion Forum (it has a News page where it could do this very easily) what the problems are and when they will be resolved. Similarly, when people email Nokia's Customer Support they are getting no response, which is surely unacceptable. I emailed over a week ago and I have had nor reply.

Due to the lack of information from Nokia and the continued problems in customers downloading their software update there has grown immense dissatisfaction with the N73 and with Nokia as a company. I am sure you will be concerned about this matter and I would respectfully ask for your assistance in arranging for Customers to better informed and to receive prompt responses to complaints and enquiries. All we want is for the N73 Software Update to be available as quickly as possible or to be informed of the reasons for any delay and when it will be available. I hope you can agree that this should not be too much to ask nor beyond the capability of Nokia.

Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you.

Re: N73 Update - Email to Nokia's Chief Executive

Well done.

I don't think it will make a difference, since Nokia don't seem to care about their customers.

Hopefully soon there will be a credible smart phone rival to Nokia, so we can all jump ship!

In the mean time, I will use my buggy N73 and love it for the bits that do work!

Re: N73 Update - Email to Nokia's Chief Executive

Great job, man. Let us know, what was the answer. I just hope, Nokia will take it seriously. Just like Nokia should take seriously the problem with people loose N73 joystick. I heard, that when it gets lost, people are forced to pay for the repair. Well, I think Nokia, realising the problem, should immediately exchange the phone for a new one in case the joysticks gets broken.
I have always loved Nokia and from all other used phones I always prefered it. But now, I must say - I have NEVER experienced software problems with any Motorola. I hope things will change for better.

Re: N73 Update - Email to Nokia's Chief Executive

It does make a huge diffrence I wrote to Olli-Pekka after Nokia India failed to replace my N91 8GB. The set was six months old and HDD failed thrice. I asked for a replacement 3rd time. First two times were horrible dealing with care line. The third time was worse they said they dont care Finally I wrote to Olli-Pekka

Hello Sir,

I am writing this mail as a last resort. I have used almost 8 of your handset models. But the last two have made me decide that they will be my last Nokia’s. I purchased a N91 8GB from Bangalore India on 29th September 2007. Within a month the handset developed hard drive issues and had to be taken to the Nokia Care at kormanagala Bangalore, I got the handset same day back. There was no job sheet provided. On November 2nd, I again submitted the handset to the same Nokia Care and this time they said they will have to send the handset to Chennai and will get back in a month. I was issued a job sheet and the handset was surrendered, I got back the hand set on 28th Nov 2007. Three weeks down I had same issues again

1) Hard Drive corrupted frequently (5 Formats required in a day)

2) Handset will turn on only with back cover removed.

3) Call receiving key wont work.

With extreme frustration I submitted the handset to Nokia Care (i2i, Kodialbail, Mangalore) on 23rd May 2007 and requested a replacement. They sent the handset to L3 support Bangalore. I got a call from Bangalore saying my handset will be repaired and delivered in 15days. I called back to customer care today and requested a replacement. But your customer care executive was so rude and ill mannered (I have the call recorded, if I attach the same your Finnish care will tender a mass resignation). He declined a replacement. When I requested for a escalation, I was informed that he was the highest authority whom I can talk to. I even said I will approach the consumer court and he said he doesn’t care.

Sir, as a customer when I purchase a product paying a dear price I expect it to work. Being a mobile engineer myself, I understand that electronic products do fail. At such times I expect the manufacturer to stand behind their products, which in my case Nokia has not. When my product went in to service for second time, I spoke with your care line to at least 10 different supervisors spending money from my pocket as there is no toll free number. Last not the least if I get a reply for this mail I will provide more details as job sheet numbers, IMEI, and even that call recording if you need so.

Within 12 hours the Nokia CCO South rang me up and sanctioned a new N73 ME as replacement. Nokia is only like this in india. Sets are branded Mad by Nokia (to be read Mand in China)
