Re: Microsoft Apps

Nokia never said 2011, early 2012 they said.  I was really pleased when I noticed this news when it was official actually, as I think this is really amazing stuff for Belle users.

Re: Microsoft Apps

Nokia did say q4 2011 for the first part and early 2012 for the second. Now q4 2011 has passed and nothing, are these kinds of announcements some kind of con to increase sales ? Did Nokia know when they announced it that they could not deliver ?

Re: Microsoft Apps

Those apps were meant to be released for belle phones and with belle getting delayed, its arrival should be delayed as well.

this is the key sentence to it all.

The free updates, called Microsoft Apps, will require no additional infrastructure. The first updates will appear by the end of this year, with broad consumer availability arriving in early 2012.

And the part that is dealing with us as comsumers is the "with broad comsumer availability arriving in early 2012"

the only people that may have got any of these apps earlier was to be those with phones that had Belle preinstalled when purchased. Everyone else is not and was not getting it till early 2012. Essentially we are all comsumers so we all diffinitely fit the "broad comsumer" part. So no one lied, no one gave you false info.

Those lines were taken straight from the press release that was made on the Nokia developers website, so in other word the info that goes to app developers etc. Which was included in my post some months ago.

I know I am looking forward to these apps becoming available, not only will they be something that i will use, but I also think it will give Nokia a huge boost, with the potential for extra sales from business customers.

After all most of these apps like lync, onenote, powerpoint, document connection with links to sharepoint are all business related products, which for the majority of customers will not have any need for. Unless your workplace has these kinds of servers setup, with appropiate access for its users of course.

There really is only 2 apps, word and excel that a comsumer is likely to use on a regular basis. I happen to have access to the kind of servers required for the others apps which definitely helps me, but for most they will mean nothing to them, nor will they have any use for them. Unless you are in a position where you can have access to a microsoft communications server or lync server 2010 and to something like server 2008 that has sharepoint installed, then these apps are not even worth worrying about.

Re: Microsoft Apps

Ain't that the truth... As you said, most are not going to have any use for the apps.

Re: Microsoft Apps

As I said earlier it is not life or death to have these apps. As a "consumer" I do not look at developer websites and the link I gave was too Nokia Converstions the official blog, which is aimed more towards the general user.

Comparing what you have said and the blog it is 2 similar but different stories, Belle phones have been released and supposedly should have had the first update, they have not.

It is not the end of the world. As you rightly said most people will not have a use for these.

Re: Microsoft Apps

Lets just hope that we get something useful in the later updates, if something like that is going to happen.

Re: Microsoft Apps

I have installed Maicrosoft apps today on may E7.

When I have started OneNote for the first time I was asked for my Windows Live ID. Great. I have entered it and then the phone started to connect to service and it takes endless. No "cancel" is possible - the only sollution is to switch the phone off/on. Afterwords I have tried again. I was not asked for Windowls Live ID any more, but the rest was as before: endless connecting.

The second issue is with Exchange Mail. I have no problem sinchronising the phone with Exchange ActiveSync, but when I tried with same settings om Miscrosoft apps, it can not connect.

Any idea?

Thanks & best regards, bd
