I just copied and pasted some part of it here. Please read below and see the "requirements." Please see the "Firmware Version". Is it V10? V11?
Now what are we going to do? What are we supposed to do Nokia? You publish this like ALL N97 users are able to update their phones to V12! I mean, what is this? Are you kidding with us?
I really don't know what else to say... If you are going to update your phones, do it for ALL phones.
"Compatibility and system requirements
The Social Messaging Beta is compatible with the N97 firmware version 12.X.024 or higher and the 6700 Classic, and will not function correctly on other devices. We are working to add support for more devices and more communities in the future. Keep following BetaLabs for updates."

I saw your original thread before it got deleted and agreed with what you said. It makes me laugh when constructive threads like yours are deleted whilst other rant threads are allowed to remain.
I cannot use the application mentioned above because v12 isn't available in the UK.
I've been trying to get an answer out of various people at Nokia UK and have not got a sensible explanation as to why the UK is treated differently.
I too am getting annoyed by the inexcusable delays that seems to happen to all UK specific models now. I asked them the question why are we so different than countries like Spain or Italy that got the update on day one of it's release. As expected I got no (sensible) reply.
Perhaps it's time that all of the UK users that are sick of waiting started one thread to raise awareness? If others are with me i'll be willing to start it to make the thread more noticeable.

Seems the Nokia employees are working here....deleting post with constructive threads. Maybe someone will reply deleting this thread.
Go Nokia!

There must be a reason why some countries gets the updates on the same day, and others wait for months...
Do you guys think that may be in that firmware department of Nokia the team consists of Spanish, Italian, German, etc., and they may want to publish these firmwares for their countries first?
OR may be they like some countries more than others? I mean I know I sound ridiculuos, but what can be different from one European country to another? What could be different between Germany & UK? What?
I am going to say: The reason must be because Nokia has a larger market share in country "A" than country "B" that is why they choose the country "A" first. But I know this answer would be wrong, too.
I am NOT accepting the answer from Nokia about firmware updates. Their Answer is simply not clear.

Hello David,
Thank you for contacting Nokia Care.
The firmware in a Nokia phone is dependent on the country it is released for as the cellular networks in every country are different to varying degrees. The release of a firmware update is dependent upon 2 things :
1. General adaptation to the specific networks found within the country in question, followed by 2. Adaptation by specific networks for use with phones SIM locked to their networks.
Please be patient. If you are using a SIM locked phone, you may refer to your network provider for more information.
Hope this clarifies things for you David, have a nice day.

Also, the N97 wasn't on the drop down list that had to be filled in to make an enquiry.

I am not buying this answer. "Our network providers" don't have a clue about when the next firmware is coming out or if it is going to cover their product numbers. Nokia loves to throw the ball to countires, local networks, operators, resellers, and the vice versa. The ball is bouncing back and forth and we are the customers who are in between don't know dudu.

miamicx4,
I'm not sure which country you're in and who your provider is, but it is true that in some countries the providers approve when the firmware gets released for the 5800 that is branded by them. There's no denying that and you will see that in various posts in these forums.
What gets me is that in the US where the 5800 is sold unbranded and unlocked, we (USA consumers) still have to wait 3 months for the firmware to be released after other countries. Certainly reason #2 in the email from Nokia Care (Ireland) does not apply, but I guess reason #1 may apply to a certain extent. Maybe they beta test for three months? I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I still wish it would be sooner!

If you phone is branded (has a product code which when you search for it on the internet is specific to you provider and not the generic one for your country or region) then you Service Provider then Nokia provide the firmware, pre-release, to your provider's QA department for checking. The final approval for the release of you firmware is then dependent on the approval from your Service Provider and not Nokia.
I have been informed that the v11 firmware release for tne N97 in the UK released for Vodafone handsets before Nokia UK released the UK generic version.
The long and short of it is that although Nokia have a great impact in as much as your Service Provider can not start the Approval process until Nokia provide them with the new firmware for testing, you Service Provider has the final say on if and when that firmware will release for phones branded to their network.
The BIG question is if the Nokia firmware for your country is delayed when compared to other coutries regions does this mean that your Service Provider gets the test copy later or is it just that Nokia QA in your country is just acting somewhat slower, for what ever reason, with their approval process.

Above is only true if yuo have a service providers phone .
It does not apply to all those unlocked at source phones .

You are correct, but it appears that Nokia are statnig that After the each Country/Region has their pwn QA that has to approve the Generic/Unbranded FW version alongside the Service Providers QA approving their Branderd versions. The release date of each FW version is then based on the speed at which the different QA/Testing departments operate on their relevant Product Code related FW approval process. In some cases it even depends on there own internal plans relative to if they even plan to release a specifc FW version at all.
