After I updated successful (message was displayed by software updater) my phone, it makes a restart.
And asked for the "Lock Code". I never used the lock code function and I never changed it before.
The default Lock Code "12345" mentioned within the documentation is not working.
Re-installation of the firmware is not working as I am unable to reinstall "PC Suite Support" due to the fact that I am not able to confirm the installation on my phone. I went to the Nokia shop and they told me they have to sent the cell phone in for repair and this can takes up to four weeks. This is totally unacceptable. Until today I was I fan of Nokia phones but this has changed dramatically.

I have the same problem after upgrading the firmware... but I removed the battery and redo it again with the defaul 12345... and it fails... but when I tried the one I changed to previously, it works... so the lock code may not be changed during the firmware upgrade?

But as I mentioned before, I never used this lock code feature before. Means it should be still the default code "12345". In the meantime the network provider support could solve my issue in one working day. As there is again a update (210) available I am afraid to download it.

I just encountered the same problem, tonight I did a Firmware upgrade (latest) , and the phone asked me for the "lock code" after booting.
I NEVER used it (the lock code), so I am stuck. Tried to redo the firmware and did NOT help. Also tried the 12345 code, no way!!
It has to be a solution for this... huh.. I hope that some friends from my mobile operator will help me with that (at least to ask NOKIA service for a solution).
I am really **bleep** off

WHY DOESN'T PEOPLE HAVE AN ANSWER FROM NOKIA STAFF OVER HERE???
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, I THINK IT IS VERY UNFAIR THAT NOKIA COMPANY DOESN'T GIVE US A SOLUTION TO OUR PROBLEM IN THIS FORUM.
IS THIS LEGAL THAT THEY LOCK YOUR PHONE WHEN YOU UPDATE THE SOFTWARE???
THIS IS INCREDIBLE, PLEASE GIVE US A SOLUTION

Unfortunately, the moderator is only taking care of suspicious solutions which could be argued for security reasons. Official NOKIA technicians are not looking at this forum. This is suposed to be a member to member help forum.

ok, I understand, but the solution (which was removed) has nothing to do with the warranty and was not in any way accessing the system files or was not using any hacking routines.
I will post again the solution, and if you think that is "problematic" for security reasons, please... remove it again.
The solution is:
when it asks for the LOCK CODE,
press and hold the gray button (near the shift button) to access/enable the number mode;
press 112 (emergency number) and then the green dial button/key.
Any other different method to dial 112 will not work.
In this way the phone is again in "normal" mode

hi ..

Dear Melhijat! thnks for your suggestion resp. solution. it worked perfectly for me!
do I have to do it alltime like this in future?
29-Jul-2009 04:52 PM
the problem is temporarly solved with the solution of Melhijat, however I cannot set a new LockCode. To unlock I have always to do the same procedure. Is there a solution to set a new LockCode and be back to normal?
looking forward to read the solution.

Hi everybody,
funny enough, the same thing happened to me yesterday after I updated the Firmware of my E71 via Nokia Software Updater. After spending hours I had the idea to update again via Nokia OVI Suite. And now the funny thing about this: The update file in Nokia Software Updater is about 107 MB in Nokia OVI Suite 102 MB.
After the update my phone restarted, I entered the default lock code and .... IT WORKS.
If you are facing similar problems, try it that way.
It can't get worse anyhow.

THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!
Your advice worked wonders for me.I was so scared when I faced that lock code thing after the firmware update, but your advice helped me out.
OVI rocks!
Cheers.

Hi,
I have the exact same problem - but how do you get the phone connected to Ovi when you cannot enter the secirity code?
Thanks in advance!

The solution is: when it asks for the LOCK CODE, press and hold the gray button (near the shift button) to access/enable the number mode; press 112 (emergency number) and then the green dial button/key. Any other different method to dial 112 will not work. In this way the phone is again in "normal" mode.
This is only a temp fix and it will ask for the lock code each time you power up, the best thing to do once your phone is operational using this trick is to then re-install the firmware update using the OVI suite instead of the nokia suite once done all will be fixed :-) remember to backup first
Have fun
