I just got my N97 back cover replaced, so that means they've fixed the camera issue and installed a new GPS antenna.
But my N97 suddenly restarted itself and then it eventually froze at the startup screen.
I had to do a hard reset but that screwed up my gps, it couldn't get a lock on to my position, and if it did it would take a long time and then lose signal.
So i reinstalled everything again and this time it came with the same result.
You would have to wait a long time to get a signal and its not a really good one, its only like 3-4 bars.

Search in the N-series sub-forum for "WSOD" and you'll find instructions on how to regain control of your N97 without having to hard-reset.
As for the GPS....after I had the antenna "fix" done by NokiaUSA, getting a fix improved. I have noticed that when my N97 is "hot" (right after charging or when the GPS display has been on for a long time) I start losing GPS fix. I think that this is heat-related.
The Maps software still has some bugs and Nokia is working on it. I'm beta testing some for them now under their "Pilots" program.

My gps works randomly and I can't really use it for anything. Sometimes i get a fix fast, somtimes it takes forever. Ofte I loose the signal in a few seconds. I have not had my n97 on service, but as rdcinhou says: it might be heat issues too. - not just the antenna. Not to moan, but i drives me insane...![]()
