I can't update my Nokia 5800 to V40.0.005!

I have been trying to update my phone from V31.0.101 to V40.0.005 but it seems that:

i. I tried to update the firmware via phone, it says that there are no current firmware available for upgrading.

ii. I tried to update the firmware via Nokia PC Suite, it says the same. There are no current firmware for me to download.

My friends who are using Nokia 5800 seems to be having no problem at all updating his/her firmware to V40.0.005.

It's a bit of a mess and any feedbacks are welcomed. =)

Re: I can't update my Nokia 5800 to V40.0.005!

Personally, I get tired of answering this question every other day.

2 possible reasons:

1. Your phone is network branded. Even SIM free phones may be branded, depending upon the supplier. In this case you can only update if the phone operator has approved the update for your product code

2. Country Variant phones also need to have to get approvals to update. In some countries, AFAIK the local telecommunications bureau do the approvals.

3. The phone is generic, but simply the update for the regional + product code has not yet been released.
