I LOVE my Nokia 5800XM!!

[ Edited ]

I think it´s time to give some cred to the Nokia People;

After updating my unit to s/w version 40.0.005 – the telephone is absolute fantastic!

No one told me that I will receive free updates when I bought my 5800 so I´m a really impressed. I have study some of the critical post in this forum – but come on folks – how often can you buy a house and after a half year be offered an extra living room for free…?

The new HS (with scrolling contact field), the KS menu and the free Navigation program works great. There are still some issues regarding PC connection, but I´m sure that also this will be solved in the near future (?).

From the bottom of my heart – thanks to Nokia for still improving already delivered/sold products – keep up the good work!

Yes, agree! I hope Nokia will do the same to the N97 too.

Re: I LOVE my Nokia 5800XM!!

if V21 "cures" my N97 in 2 days, i will agree with you- ONLY if it fixes all the bugs that i have!.
if not... i really dont know what to say.
it is still a shame that we had to wait such a long time (what is it about a year?) to get our most advanced nokia flagship phone (excluding the brand new N900) to work properly.
i will give nokia 1 more chance to win my loyalty and trust back.

Agree completely. It's often overlooked here at the positive aspects of Nokia phones. You're right, the updates are not rights but privileges and we should be very grateful for them, rather than demanding of them. Admittedly we want phones to be their best, but so long as they work then Nokia don't technically *owe* us anything

Re: I LOVE my Nokia 5800XM!!

im sorry but i cant reffer to a phone that crashes when trying to exit apps (and\or randomly it seems for lots of people) and randomly restarting and turning itself off as "working".
and i consider my self lucky as i dont seem to have many of the other issues ive read about here.

Re: I LOVE my Nokia 5800XM!!

@DXter, yes, the n97 needed updates to work properly. I was referring to the 5800 v4 firmware which gave users bonus features like the new homescreen and kinetic scrolling. I know people were complaining about them, but at the end of the day the phone wasn't advertised as having them and there was no obligation from nokia to provide them.

i do consider stability upgrades as obligatory though

yes i know that you guys were talking about the 5800. and if it is true that nokia gave the 5800 all this extra stuff on V40 then that is indeed a "2 thumbs up" for nokia.
i was just expressing my feeling about the N97. didnt mean to be a party-pooper here.
