About the firmware of my Nokia 5800XM....
V.31.0.101
RM-356
CODE: 0570196
Is that the latest firmware was V.31.0.101. ?
i'm keep search for the latest firmware by device and pc, but still don't have any new firmware.
Anyone who can tell me?

Hi, the latest fw for 5800 is V40, but some 5800 (product codes) will not get it, or have to wait as they might be branded, country variants, special edt etc...

The most recent update for your device is v31, and you will have to wait.

You might be able to get v40 by taking the device to a Nokia care point and ask politely, but no promises from me.

I am not totally sure about what youre asking for, but It has more to do with the productcode itself. Think of a provider like Orange. Products from them cannot get updates untill orange approves it. And it's the productcode that tells the updater what kind product it is - if it is a phone from orange or a sim free phone bought from nokia... get it? :smileyhappy:

My meaning is 5800XM has many product code too, and the product code maybe is used to ensure the manufactured date....so...how is my product...
And i do not know what was ur explanation....haha!! sorry for the poor english

We have no idea if the product code refers to manufacturing date. Furthermore, the date of manufacturing does not have anything to do with getting product code updates, but rather the version of the phone.

 

There are 4 versions: special edition, branded, country variant and generic

 

Generic handsets get the firmware first

 

branded handsets get their firmware only when the network providers to which they are branded (like Orange, Vodaphone, Virgin, T-Mobile, Airtel, Globe, Smart, SingTel, etc) approve the update and release it for their customers.

 

Country variants get the update a bit later than generic handsets for some reason

 

Special edition handsets like the Ramadan Edition may never get firmware updates.
