Force a firmware re-install?

My Nokia E61, while a real life saver, is freaking out. Several applications error out when you try to run them. The reset default settings can't find the resource files. As soon as PC Suite connects to the phone it reboots the phone... the list goes on.

I tried a "reformat". That thing with the Green-3-* combo at power up, and it deleted all my data and settings and reset things, but all the problems still exist.

I think the best thing for me it to reprogram the firmware, but NSU sees that it has the current version and just quits. Is there some way, like a command line option (i.e. ns_ui_client -forceinstall) to force NSU to reinstall the Symbian OS so that I'm REALLY back to factory condition?

This phone is driving me nuts and I LOVE Nokia, so any help will be appreciated.

Re: Force a firmware re-install?

I can find no options on the NSU screens to do this re-install. Once it finds my phone it just comes back with a no new update available.

Re: Force a firmware re-install?

It depends what phone, what firmware, and what carrier.

Usually there is NOT the option.

This is insane. They really should have it as an option. It would save a lot of hassles of having to visit a care centre to get it done, instead of just giving the option to do it your self.
