Is it possible to update the Firmware of a nokia through Nokia Software Update Utility in case you have the firmware in your hard-drive and do not have/ have a slow internet connection?

NSU downloads the firmware before attempting to flash. So I'd imagine there isn't much room for concern about bricking your phone, because your mum picks up the phone when NSU has downloaded 98% of a 20mb file on the 56K dialup line.

I have a E62 whose firmware is with me(hard-drive) and Online updates are not supported..

You'll need to download and install Nokia Software Updater, allow that to determine whether or not there is a better software version for your phone, and let it download then install the firmware/software.

I do accept that it can take a good hour just to download 17.5mb (@ ~5K/sec) - but if you can keep the connection pumping away long enough to download what's needed, then you'll be fine.

if i were you, i will not attempt to update on a dial-up, if you have N95 or something that is the expensive, it is not worth the risks bricking your phone on a dial-up... its just not worth it... my 2c

I happen to have two firmwares.

1)Nokia_E62_RM-88_EMEA_2.0618.06.17_v2.0.exe
2)Nokia_E62_RM-88_EMEA_3.0633.09.13_v3.0.exe

My phone gives me the (1) firmware versoin for #*0000#.
So even if better firmware exists, the NSU does not update the phone..Any suggestions??

I have also made a backup of through PC-suite and through phone memory applet.Would my original installations like adobe PDF and flash lite be restored after flashing??
