Do they use a different system then ours at Nokia Care Centers? We use the "Nokia Software Updater" or "FOTA", but with both systems we could only update our firmware, if the new firmware for our product number becomes available.
What about Nokia Care Centers? Can they update our firmware no matter what product number we have? (Considering we purchased the phone from the same country ofcourse; etc. Phone purchased in UK, Nokia Center in UK)
If the firmware for our product number is still not available on NSU or FOTA, could it be already available at Nokia Care Centers?
I just want to find out how this system works.

They do use a different system (which cannot be named or discussed here) but usually they only have access to the same updates that you would get from the NSU. Not sure if the system includes FOTA update or not.
On rare occasions they do have newer versions for specific product codes that for some reason have not made it to the NSU/FOTA. They cannot force an update if no update exists for a specific product code.
So there is no harm in asking, but don't be surprised if the answer is no.
If you feel like your code has been missed out and it's an unbranded model then don't post about it here as it will not help. Instead send several requests to nokia care, from different email address and also fill in the feedback form on the NSU page giving your product code.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that you would.
I still don't think my Product Code has been missed out, because I see that (checked the web) there are still many N96 unbranded product numbers that are still waiting to be updated.
I did all that what you said, let's hope that it will help. But I don't think a company like Nokia would "Missed Out" a code. They can't be that dumb.
May be when I purchase another Nokia again, I should look in to it's product number first?
But seriously, how would I know what numbers are updated before others right? ![]()
At least you saved me time from going to Nokia Center for an update. Thanks. ![]()

Yes, if your phone still has a warranty.
Out of warranty they will charge, call your nearest care point for the price.

So in Nokia Care they will update my mobile for free?
If you still have warranty, yes. If you are out of your warranty period the answer is no, but it will cost you very very little, it won't hurt you ![]()
But if you purchased your phone abroad and bring it and use it there, in other words you never had any warranty in your country, then some centers may not deal with you..
If you are close to a Nokia Center, the updating usually takes like 20 minutes, very easy process.
