Firmware Communicator 9500

Hi,
I bought a Nokia Comunicator 9500 sencod hand.
I would like to update the firmware from "V 04.44(01)" to "V. 05.22(07)".
I tried using the nokia site but seems that the 9500 is not supported so if there is somebody can help me ???

Thanks

Re: Firmware Communicator 9500

That Post is exactly the same as what I was composing, I have an intermitant white screen when opening the clam shell. From what I've read on this discussion board, the answer seems to be to upgrade the firmware from 4.44(1) to 5.22(07) but my local Nokia service centre took the 9500 into their care along with a $35 fee to look at it and provide a quote to fix it. Then a week later I was told I could come in and pick it up and there was nothing to pay. Nothing to pay because they could not fix it. Here in Australia the 9500 does not have a big following, and there is some doubt about when or even if the E90 will ever make it here. BUT in the mean time is there any where in the world that I can obtain a an upgrade for my firmware???
TIA

Re: Firmware Communicator 9500

I have the same problem. I've bought a used 9500 and I have problems at boot up. Forums said I need a software update. Unfortunately I can't find a single firmware. 9500 firmware is not supported anymore by Nokia. If anyone can help me, pls don't hesitate :smileyhappy:

Re: Firmware Communicator 9500

I have had a 9500 for 3 years and it is on V5.22. Recently mine has started doing this and I am sure it is not the firmware but the ribbon cable which is cracking.
I have bought a new UI board and am having it fitted in a few weeks time. If it solves the problem I will post it here.

Very poor that Nokia will no longer provide such maintenance and spares for a product only 3 years old. If a car mfr did that they would never sell another car. Meanwhile Nokia want us to buy the E90 which does not do half the things a 9500 does!

Re: Firmware Communicator 9500

The software updater was introduced a couple of years ago, and doesn't support any of the older models.

Phones not included in NSU can always be updated at a Nokia service point.

Re: Firmware Communicator 9500

And the price of a new car is not comparable to a new phone in most markets, so comparing how long the car industry supplies spare parts to the phone industry is a bit meaningless (very different rules and economies at play).

Re: Firmware Communicator 9500

fascinating discussion about cars aside, it would be nice if Nokia would not leave us, the 9500 owners, in the dark.

Without going to the shop and babble about for hours with a nice ignorant lady, whom, I am sure, will try to sell us an insurance: Can we get to know somewhere on the net
which is the latest firmware software revision on this phone ? And what the various upgrades fix and not.

If the phone is that old, why does Nokia not throw the upgrade procedure and needed hardware in public domain?
