Yes there is.
White Button - Settings - Phone - Phone Mgmt. - Device Updates - Options - Settings - Default server profile.
Change from Always Ask - Nokia.
Exit.
Then try: White Button - Settings - Phone - Phone Mgmt. - Device Updates and it should work.

Thanks...but unfortunately I only have the "always ask" choice in "server profile", there is no Nokia. I believe that setting is assuming that you have a profile set up. I would need the server settings (which I guess doesn't exist, unless you have them) to even create a profile.

If you had done a search of all Discussions, you would have found that there is not a server profile for NAM 5800s. You can only upgarde via NSU.
@planetmike, you are correct, the NAM 5800's aren't pre-configured with server settings out of the box. However, the server settings have been posted on this forum, and at least one user in that thread has said they were able to connect to the server and get a response saying that there was no update.

Hi guys,
I just got an text-SMS on my phone saying that there is a new software update for my Nokia 5800 XM, but I've already updated to 30.0.011 so I don't understand why it says that? I've also checked for updates in my phone, and also on my PC, but I can't find any new updates...

Is it true that FW update that has been released via FOTA will not be released on NSU? And vice versa?

The only thing I've found added in v30 is that on the standby screen we now have the option to setup email as well along with search.
The only prob I still find is the notification light keeps blinkin sometimes even if we've checked the notification. This prob was in v21 as well but not in v11 or v20
The improvements I was hoping for were-
1. Camera
2. H.264 support
But I don't think these will ever happen
P.S. Even I haven't found any problems reported on this thread

i hope not but if ever its true, i hope its only temporary for the sake of us nokia users.
maybe they pulled it back to iron out the kinks, the glitches that this version has been causing. maybe after the guys responsible for these updates repaired all the bugs, maybe they'll re-release it.
maybe that's it. and im really hoping that's the case.

perlik,
ok. thanks for letting us know. i just hope that downloading it this time wont cause the ones interested in downloading this version problems like the glitches encountered posted in the threads here by the ones who have succeeded in downloading it.
can you guide us on where to go ( what site ) exactly?
thanks again

perlik,
hi, again.
pardon my ignorance but when i keyed in *#7370# it adviced that it will restore all phone's original settings.
i dont to restore all original settings because my phone has already lots of cool applications i got from nokia beta labs and other sites.
is there anyway to go there and downloading the new software version without having to going back to its original settings without losing all the cool apps i already have on my phone?
thanks again.

perlik,
thanx for the immediate reply.
i also do back-ups via nokia pc suite before updating softwares.
so, basically is that i should back all my files up before going to *#7370#?
this is a new territory for me. i never do anything to my phone which requires me to let my phone go back to its original settings. so, if i back it up via pc suite and and go to *#7370# and download the new software and then restore my old files, i wont lose the new software and still get my old applications back?
pardon my ignorance..hehehe.
i'm only human..![]()
thanx again
