Hello,

I upgraded the firmware of my E51 with the last two recent upgrades:
v200.34.36 and 220.34.37 in August and today respectively.

I noticed however that my handset volume is now much lower as it used to be and in some cases even barely audible.

Is this a known issue and can anyone please help me resolve this?

It is really frustrating as I really love my phone and don't want to change it because of this stupid software defect.

man, i've updated my firmware to 220.34.37 and everything's just fine, the headset volume is normal just like before.
sorry i can't solve your problem, i just want you to know that there's no problem with headset volume in the latest firmware

I guess something in the hardware could have gone bad just at the same time when I did the upgrade, though I would ind that very strange.

I think i will take it to a technician and see,

I went to Nokia distributor and fix it by cleaning the headset and its working as before, Impressing !!!

Its true! This is not software problem. I remove front panel and make a call. Volume is normal. Speaker is clean, but a holes in front panel is dirty.

Hardware BUG ;-))
