An error always occurs, and device recovery is always needed.

I mean always and the update wizard always show the same thing over and over again and it seems that the process isnt moving forward.

the same four steps over and over:

disconnect USB.

Turn off then on.

Reconnect USB.

Click OK.

I have done those steps  more than 10 times now and it always says Estimated time left !5 mins. and doesnt change.

Some info by the way:

Im upgrading from Ver.21 to Ver 52 by the way.

I have backed up everything.

I hard resetted my phone.

I read the FAQ section of updating.

and I believe I have followed every step to the letter.

Some of my questions are:

Is whats happening to my updating process normal?

Am I doing something wrong?

Is there something I need to do?

Is there anyone who can help me?

Are you using the latest version of OVI suite?

.. or you may try updating thru' Nokia Software Updater..

Download from

http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/device-software-update

and install on PC..

I had the same problem, it was to do with my PC not the phone. I was using my work PC and I have never been able to update it. Used my laptop at home and it worked fine. Also if you have one of the longer USB cables, switch to the shorter one if you can - they seem to work better.

Finally FOTA is the best way to update, never had a problem with that,
