I'm currently using a Nokia 5800 X M mobile phone firmware version 50.0.005 and i had a bad experienced on my current firmware version my first firmware updated was march 2010 ( if i'm not mistaken ) as what i experienced after i updated the latest firmware the response rate on applications are fast but after how many days it slow's down ( Sluggish ) Second there's a bug on camera when using ( i think the problem is on the firmware , the first firmware that i used was 11.000.00 something and i did not experience like this before ) i experienced several times especially on video recording it produce too much heat even i used in a short time and even after using the battery still hot and battery drains fast ( i did not expected ) Third on music player theres no problem on browsing on my playlist it looks fine but sometimes when i'm trying to play a song it doesn't play and i need to restart my phone then turn on again just to play . Please do something or else i rather buy another phone ( with another Firmware like Android ) and maybe i wont buy a Nokia phone for the rest of my life cause it gives me a problem and please i suggest before you release the latest firmware make it sure that the users will satisfy and it won't encounter any problems we want new updates for the improvements on personal phones . by the latest firmware up to date is 52.0.007 on the next firmware release please add some new features like ( menu auto rotate , also on home screen especially on shortcuts ( on the bottom of the menu ) the maximum applications that you can put is only 4 ( please add more so that we can access easily just like on contacts ( on the upper screen of the menu ) we just swipe it to choose which applications to use . Please hear me and many thanks . ( I'm Still Hoping for the Improvements )

I support lordtriguy86 more than 100%.. s60v5's FW does need major improvements including the speed of cpu.. why can't other s60v5 devices have 600MHz while c3-05 already has that kind of speed.. futhermore.. why can't other s60v5 devices have a widgetized homescreen just like n97.. a majority of s60v5 users really want that homescreen.. they even flash their device(s) with symbian^3 FW just to enjoy that homescreen and other advantages.. such as the new and improve landscape view.. this is why s60v5 FW should be upgraded with symbian^3 FW.. at least make it close..

To be realistic I don't think we will see any huge improvements if ever another firmware update.

Nokia has supported the 5800 way more than any other devices and it's getting "old".

Of course I don't know this for sure as Nokia holds their cards close to the chest, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

You won't see S^3 on you 5800 as it lacks amongst other things, graphic hardware accelration.

Remember also that Nokia is a company and want to make money like every other companies out there, by that they of course want to sell new devices.

oh really? then how come the nokia hackers team can flash their s60v5 devices with s^3 FW.. they even make a compatible s^3 FW for 5230.. try google it.. more important than money is the customers.. if nokia does not appreciate their customers including us.. why should we become their local customers.. but i do appreciate the FW update feature.. i do not see other phone with that feature yet..

as you said they are hackers. those things void the warranty of the phone.

it might even make the device useless.

the 5800 is a device almost 3 years old, it wont get any major updates, especially the Symbian^3 OS.

also it is mentioned many times here, 5800 and many similar phones,  lack the general hardware the new phones have.

for example the GPU.

that so called symbian 3 firmware for 5800 is just a name, its still symbian 1 from top to bottom but with a mix of C6-00 firmware which has a lot symbian 3 alike feature such as widgetize homescreen.
Still, that is Symbian one. I hope at least Nokia let all s60v5 user enjoy symbian 1 experience like c5-03 with single tap ui and 600mhz processor.

it's called Marketing.
if they are going to add, let's say, all the features of S^3, all the users will want the 5800, which is much cheaper and the N8 will stay at the shelves.

i agree with you.. but we still want some features of s^3 in our s60v5 devices.. especially the widgetized homescreen and the new landscape view.. just to show that nokia really do appreciate their loyal customers..

5800 users were guinea pigs of Nokia...

Nokia discarded them once they had provided what they wanted...

Released N97, C6-00 with widgets on the screen, N97 and X6 were guinea pigs for Symbian^3 homescreen...

It released 5530 and 5230 with scrollable contacts bar and shortcuts... 5800 remained with the simpler homescreen... later update came and 5800 users got the scrollable contacts bar... but that introduced a bunch of bugs and issues...

Nokia needs to stop dividing firmware like that... it costs money, angers users and introduces more problems than the ones it solves...

Identical hardware = Identical firmware

Just implement the stuff required when required, GPS, Radio controllers on devices where it is needed... If Nokia is to release different firmware versions then update them all when one of the identical parts are identical between devices... don't develop 3 versions of the same piece of software that does the same thing .... or just to cut features that would otherwise work...
