Changing the product code can only be done by a Nokia Care Point and only if they have a genuine reason to do so. Changing the code yourself will invalidate the warranty.

They can however install a different language pack for you but this will be overwritten everytime you update the firmware on your phone.

Simple. If you buy a phone that is meant for your country/region, it will have the product code for your country/region. Buying a phone from another country/region may sometimes be cheaper, but you will also have to put up with possible problems.

You also have to look out for dodgy retailers who import the phones from somewhere cheap and install language packs themselves.

Yes, they you can ask the Nokia Care Point to change the language pack but remember, everytime you update your firmware, the language will change back to the original language again.

They may also charge you ro change the language pack.

Re: Changing code product. This is dangerous

Changing of Product code by an unauthorised means or by yourself instantly invalidates your products warranty.

You are correct it is dangerous, and it should not be done. Discussion of this is not permitted in this forum

I strictly agree, talking  here about changing product code is not allowed. We can not talk about this, cause such a change effects with loss of product warranty. And everything what is bound up with eventually breaking of Nokia warranty rules is here forbidden. You can, exclusively on your own risk, check this on N95users.com. But this is so danger that I can not recommend, you to do this.

Re: Changing code product. This is dangerous

Due to the inherent danger that 'hacking' your Nokia device using unauthorised software may cause additional problems and leave you without your device warranty, it is our normal policy to remove all discussion of the subject. However, we have on this occasion decided to leave this thread to inrform and warn users about the potential side-effects of this kind of activity.

Users should also be aware that you cannot cover your tracks by changing a product code back to its original one before seeking assistance by a Nokia Care point, as NSU records your device code at each update, so Nokia will always know the history of your phone's extra-curricular adaptations.
