3. Installation:
In the beginning phone shutdowns and in computer starts USB notifications that something wrong and it goes for a few minutes (phone do not turns on). Than in Nokia Suite appears message that connection to the phone was lost and do four steps: disconnect; restart, connect, wait. I do all this things and installation starts again from beginning... phone shutdowns, computer starts USB notifications and in Nokia Suite appears the same message that connection to the phone was lost.
P.S. if I do nothing after Message appears in Nokia Suite that connection lost than after 3-5 minutes phone turns on, but installation do not continues.

I had the same problem with my c7 and after a lot of tries belle is now on my phone.
You should go in menu>settings>phone>phone management>reset and erase all data.
maybe menu words aren't correct because i don't use my phone in english
hope you get belle too ![]()

To all who have this issue, I have tried to fix it since last year by trying to update my N86. Then last night, when Belle was rolled out, I had it again while trying to update my N8. Same issue, but I fixed it. I've been trying for 8 hours and these are some of the solutions suggested on the web (but none worked for me):
> wait for 15 minutes (I've waited for 30, nothing happens. Stop wasting your time and proceed!)
> remove sim/memory card
> connect with Mass Storage mode
> soft reset (also suggested were hard reset, but I think that is best left as a last resort)
> turn off your firewall, and possibly even your security software
> get the latest Suite (I know Nokia keeps repeating this, but I can't believe how many people just ignore this even if they have the older versions)
> delete the 20019119 (not sure) folder in Mass Storage drive under 'private' folder
> restart your computer (worked for some)
> run Nokia Suite as administrator (worked for some)
> redownload the firmware by going to C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Nokia Suite\.....\Variants\ and rename the device folder (eg. RM-596 to RM-596elop), Nokia Suite will redownload the firmware and waste more of your time. Go grab a drink. Preferably coffee, to keep you awake.
> do an online scan for malware/trojan/whatever-not-good, and clean them
Those are the "solutions" I've tried, and failed to see any results. Lastly, THIS WORKED FOR ME.
USE ANOTHER COMPUTER.
Yes, that's it. Funny right? Turns out Windows can mess things up but puts the blame on Nokia phones. Just get another computer, don't sync with it, but just let it back up. If you have a slow connection to redownload the firmware, then just go to the said directory above to copy the file into the new computer. Nokia will detect it (make sure it's in the same folder as in the original computer) and proceed. Good luck to you all!
*Issue on security code during installation is that Nokia Suite will say do not touch your phone even if it asks for language selection or security code. It just asks to enter PIN when phone asks for it. But I've noticed after the first reboot, the second reboot won't proceed until you enter your security code! If you just leave it, it wouldn't reboot the second time. That's the only issue I have during installation. Hope you guys get it!

we are currently investigating this issue and will post FAQs as soon as possible.
pS: Please always make sure that you really use the lastest version of Nokia Suite 3.3.86 to do the update to Nokia Belle.

The problem is in USB connection, for some reason the reboot command from Nokia Suite does not get delivered correctly to device. This will leave Suite just waiting and it can do nothing more. I recommend also to try with different PC, also make sure there are no hubs and try another USB port. It is all about getting the USB connection working correctly, not about network connection.
suggest trying all the usb ports? and deinstalling reinstalling drivers?
i noticed it install usb flash something thing, but then it disconnected and connected and did not get recognised by the computer

Yea looking forward to the solution.
I have reinstalled windows 7 on my test machine thus reinstalled Nokia Suite.
Resetted the phone to factory default.
And last, I have tried different USB connectors.
All without luck and i'm keeping the same USB connection lost message.
I'm running out of idea's what to do next!

so thats good news i presume, at least i am not the only one with the problem and were not counting the people not going to the forums.

I've bought E7 recently just for this update , even my other 3 phones still work fine )) Started to update straight away once Belle appeared in Nokia Suite and stacked in the same "Connection to the phone was lost"... Is there another way to install Belle? It's could be better just download installer to memory card and install from it. Or may be try to update using MAC OSX?

you cant, think memory card of phone not accessible when it goes into flash boot mode, so cant read from the memory card then, and it is not possible to install using mac
further check if you not got the usb in a usb hub, the front side usb ports in a computer are usually hubs and no 'main' usb ports.
i had a reply from nokia about my problem and the logs i send with it.
and apparently it looks like my device is not responding to requests to change into flash mode, which could be a problem of it not being delivered correctly through the usb. And i should reboot pc or try other usb ports or different pcs. only have to try out diff pc, the other solutions did not work ![]()
here you can find the log files from nokia suite
C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Nokia Suite\NOSSU2\logs
search for flash mode and see if it gives an error there too
the error about nosu2.cfg is apparently no problem, or at least that was the info i found
08-Feb-2012 12:48 PM
There are some warnings in log file concerning *cfg files (not found) and one error only:
Response received
SMSESSION cookie not found
Exiting subtry loop
ERROR Retrieving diff package information failed with error code -1
Variant package found (sw version 111.030.0609)
Variant package (direct flash) update method selected
I guess this error occured due to connection was lost. Well, may be other MS systems more lucky and allow to update? Has someone tried XP,W2k,W98 )) ? I've used W7x64 , will try XP later
