Brightness adjustment and a few other BUGS - broke...

Brightness adjustment and a few other BUGS - broken post-Belle (E7-00)!

Adding to the list of bugs:

I cannot adjust my Display brightness as I should - I have level 1 - sleder from left to about 3/4 the length of the slider, level 2 - 3/4 to final and level 3 - full slider to the right.

Basically I can only set my display to just 3 brightness levels. It is definitely broken.

Another issue I have already tested on my E7 - there isn't any battery monitoring app that reads charge correctly even after full discharge, they all give some random charge numbers that are obviously incorrect. Can someone from Nokia give me guidance on what do the stock battery bars means? Like 1/2 bar - 10% 1 bar 20% or whatever. Since we can't see percentage anymore, at least explain how the graphic bars work as right now at no point I know exactly how much battery I've got left.

On E7, when I have my keyboard out and an Application open - if I close the keyboard, I am automatically redirected to home screen and my App gets minimized. Please report that, too.

Please forward the issues to support as these are proper bugs not just some personal preferences on layout.

I still have the following complains, which would be nice to :

Music player widget does not return where you left it.

Bookmarks/RSS cannot be used as Homescreen Apps.

WiFi is unstable on E7 - seems to be working OK most of the time but sometimes (rarely) disconnects and doesn't reconnect automatically.

Please give me a confirmation that these are reported to support and being worked on - otherwise I have to go through the support channels which is pointless.

Thanks.

The rest is just personal complaints, which are not bugs and won't write here.

No answer?

WiFi issue seems to be OK, but the rest? I'd like some feedback or at least information on whether any of that is being fixed.

Re: Brightness adjustment and a few other BUGS - broken post-Belle (E7-00)!

Your brightness issue sounds normal to me. Those 3 stages on the slider are like having low, medium and high. The phone uses the ambient light sensor to automatically adjust your display brightness according to the ambient light and which level you have chosen with the slider - this is how it was even before Anna.

Regarding the battery level, try draining the battery down completely to see if it recalibrates itself. I would like to be able to touch the battery level indicator and get a more accurate percentage of battery life remaining, but for now I'm using one of the themes in Nokia Sleeping Screen which gives a scale of about 1 to 25 for the remaining battery life

Sure brightness was like that on Anna? Just three settings? I am pretty sure I had 5 and now I am down to three althought the slider moves 5 times...I don't think that's normal. Calibration didn't help, I will be using Sleeping Screen, too - completely forgot about this function of it. Thanks for the tip.

There is brightness adjustment problem with N8-00 too, but not the same as you have.

In Nokia N8-00 there is this light sensor, which adjusted brightness automatically in Symbian Anna and OS before Anna. Now there is no option in Settings to switch it on/off.

It was very good feature, for example, when it was sunny day the brightness automatically increased to the optimal level, and in night times it decreased the brightness.

Could you please let us know Nokia, are you going to fix those things?

I don't have an ambient sensor option either. I had it on Anna.

More bugs please? :smileyhappy:

Why is there no one from support in the forums today? It isn't the weekend and it's like two days after a major update. What is going on?

Re: Brightness adjustment and a few other BUGS - broken post-Belle (E7-00)!

alexyfoot, Anna may have had 5 "levels" of brightness - Belle may now have only 3. This is the case on my C7 too. I don't think it signifies a fault. Now it just seems there's a low, medium and high setting - maybe Nokia need to change from a slider bar to a selector, to avoid confusion?

Also, I don't think there was ever an option to disable or enable the ambient light sensor. There were apps which could force the screen to maximum brightness - haven't yet tried this on Belle.

There used to be on/off function I believe - now there isn't . How is that an UPGRADE? Fail to see the point - now I have less brightness options and don't seem to have an option for sensor performance. Nokia? Please?

My ambient sensor works, but what if I want full brightness in a dark room? Impossible with no OFF setting.

Re: Brightness adjustment and a few other BUGS - broken post-Belle (E7-00)!

I honestly don't think there was ever an option to disable the ambient light sensor in Anna. If there was, then there would have been no need for all the various apps which were created to keep the screen at maximum possible brightness.

It's possible. Anyway, 3rd party app it is...

Weel, alexy seems to be right.

Mine is a brand new Nokia 700 right out of the box with Belle. The screen brightness keeps changing in a room with no change in light ambience? And setting display brightness is hillarious. It just doesnt match up at all to the setting - if i push it to maximum, it shine sbright for a second and goes back dull (maybe the ambient sensor kicked in), then why have it at all if you have no control over it?

Forget even that, I do not want it to keep changing. Give the user an option to stop the ambient light feature

A solution for the ambient light sensor. Install this app and turn off the sensor. This app kind of takes over the screen brightness control. Crude but thats the best solution right now.

My guess is that this automatic system exists to prolong the life of the AMOLED screens, which gradually deteriorate over time depending on usage. I'm used to it, and I think it works quite well, as long as your hand isn't obscuring the sensor.
