I've only ever seen one post on here of a FOTA update going wrong. There's several a day of NSU updates going wrong.
I've done three FOTA updates on my N96 so far and each one has been problem free.
I hope FOTA becomes the standard in future as it cuts out the PC which is the cause of most update problems.

That is absolutely not true.
An NSU update for the N96 at least is a 125MB download or thereabouts.
V10.043 to V11.018 was about 3.5MB via FOTA, V11.018 to V11.101 was no more than a few hundred KB, and V11.101 to V12.043 was once again about 3MB.
FOTA is far more reliable than NSU since there are fewer machines involved (the phone grabs the update directly from Nokia instead of having it buffered by a machine, a machine running one of the most notoriously unreliable operating systems ever created) and therefore fewer points of potential failure.
As psychomania pointed out, there are cases of people bricking their phones with NSU daily on these forums. To date, we have see one case of a failed FOTA update. Draw your own conclusions.
Like our resident psycho, I hope that FOTA becomes far more widespread in the future. It is much more reliable and quick.

although i tend to agree that FOTA should be safer, but i think we might be jumping to conclusions to early, as there are about 91 phones supported by NSU, most of which are updated by the conventional PC way, whereas there are very few that uses FOTA (i knew of 2 handsets), hence the relatively lower incidence of failures...

Can someone post the details for setting up the Nokia Firmware Upgrade Server profile?
Thanks

When I attempt to update over the the phone's Device Manager, it says that there are no available updates. But when I use NSU, there is an update for my phone.
I really want to update my n73 since it's very slow. Specially starting the camera and switching to video/image mode. I've read that the next FW (4.0812.4.2.1) makes the phone respond much quicker than the 4.0736.3.2.1 FW. The thing is I'm afraid to upgrade using NSU since I'm reading lotsa articles about their n73 breaking up while updating with NSU. I'm considering in bringing it to a Nokia Center, but its toooooo far from where I live. I need to travel miles and miles in order to get there.
Can you give me helpful tips in updating my n73 using NSU..?? What do I need to do before and after upgrade..??
Thank you for looking into this. Happy 2010 guys!
