 mac users need to switch to a pc for updating their phones to belle!!! nokia even fter being such a huge multinational giant cannot provide a simple  way for mac users to update their phones!! its a DISGRACE!!!

I thought I was on to something over at the beta labs but even the Mac Nokia software updater states Belle is only available to WINDOWS users.

I've really enjoyed the camera in my N8 but not enough to justify being treated as a third (or no) rate customer. So right back at ya, Nokia.

Its indeed such a sad thing! well... the other sad part wud be, if ur phone is not under warranty... u wu have to pay from ur pocket for the belle update and that too when you do it from NCC! Isnt it more weird !!!

However, I do agree that not having a proper Software Updater for Mac somehow doesn't make sense, just as the missing sync support for OS X Lion. Why is there no Nokia Suite for Mac? After all, Nokia promotes Qt as cross-platform framework...

One couldn't even assume that this neglecting Mac users were part of the new Windows strategy, 'cause Microsoft is supporting Macs really nicely in various ways, even with regard to WindowsPhone.

Or am I missing something?

@muol FYI i do own a stinking windows laptop. its just that when you are a big MNC specializing in technologies, it is almost obvious that they give solutions to mac users( a highly superior laptop). there are quite a few of them you know.

it's possible, just updated my n8: type in Google "belle update mac" and click on the entry from the site "UK mobile review". You need to downgrade the mac software updater first. All explaned on this site and also look at my comment there.

I didn't think nokia supported software updates on a mac at all! Mac support from nokia has always been pathetic.

What's even worse there isn't even an option for anna in the latest one! Not surprised Nokia are losing market share with this shoddy attitude to a growing proportion of its user base.

Due to the major nature of this update, it was not possible to deliver it 'Over-the-air', so unfortunately the only method available to our customers is via Nokia Suite on a Windows PC.

As Nebochad have already pointed out, there are workarounds allowing Mac users to update, and there is also the option to have the update carried out by a Nokia Care point in your area. For more details on Nokia Care points, please visit www.nokia.com/global/support, choose your region and country, then follow the repair links.

Just remove the "old" one, install this instead, connect your phone and the software updater will first update itself, then the phone

Are you running snow leopard or lion? I know that a few lion users reported problems with nsu (i'm using SL). I couldn't read from your post - did you have nsu installed before and it worked or did you install it first time now?

hey, i fixed that problem and i was running lion but smth else is wrong (so sorry I'm a complete amateur) using the link u gave from uk mobile review i followed the steps and I'm on NSU 3.0.400 except the application doesn't find the belle update.. just some 25.007 which i have now updated to. i restarted the application and everything but still no new software.
