I assume you that you use "Nokia Maps", then. Do you have experience of the extra services like Traffic Information and Speed Camera information?
If so, do these work well?
Who provides the Traffic Information data?
I ask because I am not satisfied with the Traffic Information service from Route 66 (in combination with their navigator application as integrated in 6110 Navigator.) I have posted problem reports to Route 66 about it for a long time but only got "sorry to hear of your problems" in response.
The Speed Camera service works good, though. (Only limitation is that the file needs to be updated via PC and not "over air".)

OK, that reason was not clear to me.
About memory usage:
Maybe my observation can help other users with Route 66 and problems with low memory.
Route 66 needs more memory when performing route calculation using the large "Western Europe" map than when calculating the same route (within the country) using a smaller regional map like "Nordic".
(The Nordic map I have is also somewhat older than my "Western Europe" map but my guess is that it is the size of the map that makes the difference.)

I need a suggestion of a good web-browser for the 6110 Navigator.
The problem I have with the integrated browser is that some pages doesn't work. Sometimes a "low memory" messages is given and other times the application simply exits.
I have installed Opera Mini and that works better (and is much nicer to the data transfer bill) but also has problems with certain web pages.
Any suggestions?

Look under "How to restore the default map? " at Route 66 support:

I just wanted to add my final ideas about the tons of remaining bugs on the phone:
Most of them are on most FP1-Phones. Nokia simply doesnt fix them, they didnt even fix many of them in FP2-phones. Currently they work onto their Touchphones, and therefore even FP2-phones dont get the updates they need.
We can simply forget about a new firmware-update, version 6.01 was the last update, that is for sure. If you can live with the remaining bugs, than you are fine. If you want to get rid of them, get another phone. If you will go for a Nokia, check first the buglists here. If the bug was in the nokia 6110 navigator and is still present on the new nokia-model, dont go for that phone, as it will not be fixed (they had years now for fixing bugs, and still there, so they wont fix it).
The whole firmware-developper-units are concentrating onto the touchphones now, this is a major change in comparison to a minor change from FP1 to FP2-phones. Just the most necessary bugs still get fixed in Fp2-phones, in order not to lose customers.
For the rest, touchphones, touchphones, touchphones. Nokia is quite late compared to other competitors on that market, the 5800xpressmusic is their "trial"-phone, the n97 needs to be quite reliable right after the release.therefore they keep fixing there.
but anyway, the n97 with 5mb-pixel-camera is now already outdated, and the launch will be in summer. most competitors will be then at 12-18mb (apart of apple, lol
)
"have fun" with the remaining bugs, you wont get them fixed..

laxlex, what are FP1 and FP2 phones?
Next, I'm on 4.22, and stopped using the alarm due to the alarm bug, otherwise I'm happy. Should I upgrade to 6.01 or not? I'm concerned about the reported higher battery usage though.
thanks,

Just got an email promotion from Route 66 with an upgrade offer to what is called "ROUTE 66 Ultimate Traveller Bundle". From the description it sounds like a new navigation application
I wasn't able to get any details from the Route 66 web site what it really contains.
Anybody knows?
In particular; does it fix the problems I have with the Route 66 Traffic message service (where traffic incidents tends to be reported in the wrong driving direction and the automatic re-routing does not function correctly)?

dear Jangb,
I read your message in the forum about the ROUTE 66 Ultimate Traveller Bundle. it is a great offer with a discount.
However there is not much information to be found on the internet about this product.
Can you help me out? Did you receive already some more information (from other people) about this Traveller Bundle? I keep looking also for more info, and if I fond some I will let you know
...but for now maybe you can help me out? Many thanks in advance! Have a nice weekend
kind regards,
bart

I have got that email too. The Ultimate Bundle is Route 66 Mobile 9, including Western Europe Map (lifetime free upgrade of maps!), 1 year 3D Buildings for Westerneurope (in the cities, far better then Nokia Maps), Advanced Guidance (signs that show you what lane you need to follow), safetycams for Europe, traffic information for Western Europe, Weather (worldwide), all colorschemes and so on....really worth the money.
In this new version, you can download maps from worldwide for free, but the voicenavigation usually costs money. nokia 6110 navigator-users that registered on route66 now have got this great offer, along with the very fantastic lifetime free voicenavigation for westerneurope (might be for another region/country if you dont live in western europe).
you can also purchase additional voicenavigation packages, and have for example now full Europe.
in nokia Navigator/Route 66 Mobile 8 it was not possible to navigate from United Kingdom to for example China, as the maps had a limit (only Western Europe, then change to Eastern Europe, then change to Russia, then change to China...). Now it allows crossborder-travelling through for example FULL Europe, and not only Western Europe OR Eastern Europe.
So the licence modell is quite similar to Nokia Maps 3 now, but 6110 Navigator Users get for example Western Europe voce navigation during lifetime for free with continous update of maps (in Route 66 Mobile 9).
It is very stable and running damn fine, much more stable then Nokia Maps 3 final. No crash yet.
There is a similar pre-version installed on samsung i7110, but that had not yet the line guidance, and that version was still missing a lot of features (you might search on the internet for a few screenshots, or download the route66-sync software from the route66-samsung-homepage and you will see the great 3D-Buildings and ALL other buildings in greyish in bigger cities. Route 66 Mobile 9 offers now a real nice full package, very good performance, and accurate up-to-date maps.

Thanks for the info. Sounds good then.
Does this new navigation application activate with a press on the [Navigation Key] and use this key within the program in a similar manner as the "Nokia Navigator" version 8?
What is your impression with memory requirement with this new version (more or less than version 8)?
(I notice that with version 8, the memory required to build a route depends on what map I have active. When I use a smaller (and older) Nordic map instead of the Western Europe map I can run several other applications in the backround but that is hardly possible when building the same route using the Western Europe map.

The new Route 66 Mobile 9 does not replace the function on the navigator-button. If you press that button, still Nokia Navigator starts up and you will have that old program. I guess Nokia will never offer an updated firmware where you can freely change the program that starts up when you press that button.
About the performance: I have installed complete Europe, worldwide navigation licence, advanced guidance for europe, safetycams for europa, 3D Buildings for Western Europe. The startup takes a little bit longer then in Nokia Navigator/Route 66 Mobile 8, as there is more content to load (if you have no maps installed, it starts up as fast as the old version 8). It uses more memory, that is for sure.
If I start up with those maps and everything activated as I said before, when I have about 18MB free RAM-memory before the start of Route 66 Mobile 9, when the program has started, it leaves around 5 MB of free RAM-memory. The calculation of a new route seems to be slightly faster.
I can try different roads if you want and give you the results in seconds.
In Route 66 Mobile 9 you can delete by each country, so if you have problems with memory, you can for example simply delete a part of the southern Europe maps like Portugal or Spain. You dont have those defined packages of maps, but you simply have each country into a different file. This might solve a few memory-problems that you had before with Route 66 Mobile 8. But dont forget after all: With new features like the 3D Buildings, Advanced Guidance and so on, it will surely take more memory, then if you disable those features.
I might add something: I have found a folder for TTS (Text-To-Speech), and the program offers in the voice-selection the option to chose "Human voice" (there might come computer-voice?). This is new and I really believe that this is the preparation for TTS-voices (TTS can tell the full road-names, computer-voice). However those voices are not yet available for download. And that might take to much memory for the Nokia 6110 Navigator. We will see.
Anyway it would be the first navigation-program to offer TTS for Symbian.

Oh I made an error: If I reboot my phone, and I have about 20MB of RAM-Memory right after the boot, and I start then Route 66 Mobile 9, I have about 10MB of free RAM-Memory left.
OK. I installed a third party Task Manager to get some numbers to compare.
Also the old "Nokia Navigator" (ver 8) takes 10-11MB after starting up but when building a route with Western Europe map it needs (temporarily) additionally around 5 to 6 MB. (The OS usually orders other applications to exit but some won't do that so a message on low memory pops up.)
