I had the exact same problem ... try this: turn mobile phone off, remove memory card, turn mobile phone on, wait till it gets everything loaded, test homescreen, if not worked, reboot the phone and try again (don't put card back on the phone)... if it still doesn't work, hard reset seems to be the way... (keep the memory card out) ... if it still doesn't work... well... reinstall firmware... yes, leave the memory card out, and if it still doesn't work ... well ... i guess you have to send it to nokia care...
If at any point of the previous steps the phone homescreen buttons work... then put the memory card back and wait for it to be analized... it may take a while and say it failed at some point... then reboot... and check if everything works... you may end up with double shortcut on applications menu (if this happens you can try to delete the aplication and reboot the phone).... or the issue may return... if the problem returns, save everything you can from the card, format it, and repeat the steps from begining..
The reason of this is configuration files on the memory card that went corrupted... it happenned me some times now... things like being unable to access installed aplications menu on settings, double (or more) shortcuts for the same aplication, homescreen issues (specially if you mapped an aplication from memory card on shortcut bar), etc...
Of course... your problem can be completely unrelated... usually if after removing memory card -> hard reset -> firmware reinstall doesn't solve it... you need to seek help from Nokia Care.... ![]()
