So is this update worth going for??
From other posts it seems that it's very unstable. On the other hand Nokia recommends that we upgrade. We're confused !!
Will it make our phones crash? What shall we do !?? Anybody from Nokia want to shed some light here ?!?

I would wait till the next (40.xxx) update and give 31.0.101 a miss. After updating my 5800 to 31.0.101 my phone is now slower than a snail !!!!

Thanks for the help, everyone.
I'd appreciate if someone from the Nokia support team gives more info on the subject. Will Nokia support/replace/refund a handset that has crashed or has become unstable due to the software update that they offer and recommend ?
Thanks again,
Poischiche

I would wait for a further update and skip V30 and V31 if I were you.
There are several clock-related bugs in V30/31 that are extremely annoying.
1) The alarm goes off at the wrong time, anything between 1 and 5 minutes after it's supposed to go off.
2) Timed profiles to not expire at the right time. They do so late with the same delay as the alarm.
3) Scheduled backups don't happen at all.
grschinon, I do not use any of those features. The v31 update recently became available for NAM phones. Should I bother? I just want a little better performance out of the phone.

grschinon,
Why did you say "minus the phone's settings"? I usually backup and restore them as well after an update so I don't have to reset anything again if the update changes them to default settings. In fact, I usually do a full restore of everything after an update to be safe. It takes much longer, but I am a patient man.............. ![]()

Garminx XT and Nokia Ovi Maps 3.0 cannot lock on to Satellites.
Takes ages with teh Acquiring Satelittes statment.
1) Disable Network Positioning
2) Restart phone three times while standing in same location, each time only after Satellite Locked Successfuly ( had to wait a full 10 mionutes under the hot sun while locking one time)
3) Rebooted phone once
Now, I seem to be able to lock Satellites at my home within 1 minute, but still take ages if I'm at another location. Sigh.

I wouldn't update if i had the choice now, my phone was going pretty slow as it was, so i took nokias advice and upgraded to the latest firmware (for improved performance). I waited for the update to fully complete it said it may take upto 15 minutes, it finished before that time.
I rang someone after, then my phone went off and now when i try to turn it on it just vibrates for half a second like its going to come on, but "nothing at all happens" . no screen, no key lights...Ive tried holding down red + green and camera to reset it. Yet nothing helps, taking out sim, memory card, and battery.
