there are alot of bugs in v40 and its is discover by the ppl like you. I Have MY nokia 5800-d1 with the RM-356 type having SWV:21.0.0.25.
I am happy with it
as i dont want to loose my data and time. It cost me alot
THE PRIOR KNOWN BUGS IN V40 UPDATE
NO RDS IN Radio Option (It was there in previous all version till V30&31) Radio application can't be exited in the end some application icons are multiplied like in previous firmware version Thumbs of contacts on HS are loading too long listing files in Settings/App mgr/Installation files takes way too long too The screen won't turn off when you plugged the power. Same that it won't turn off after you unplugged from power. Applications cannot be uninstalled. It says "Unable to start the installer" or something like that the radio application could not be quitted The new SW update doesn't allow me to install updates. It just says fail... Most of the time, the music player cant be closed and the song will show right on the home screen. my screen backlight also not go off when plug in or unplug the charger Normally, when your 5800 full charged, it will beep and turn on the screen for couple of seconds. Now it won't turn off once this was triggered. In Messaging, message won't open on tapping ! The message seems selected, and doesn't respond to tapping(single or double) ... then options for message also doesn't open, only option is to exit messaging Frequently it happens I must remove SD before I can install/remove programs video player bugs (many video played improperly, sound played without images. or freeze at some point, but the sound continues Unable to install Opera Mini from Ovi Store and from Opera.com website downloadRegards

Also, was expecting the font colours of the numbers in received smses to be changed from red, as red is definitely the wrong colour to use. Can't the font colour be settable by user?
Pl side along the denoted direction.. you can stop/snooze
Same way apllicable for Calls if u ur keypad is locked

People for those product codes for which the update is not released(5800) ex:0575581, 0575590 etc visit the nokia care center if you wish to have v40, even i was surprised when i got my 5800 updated today i went there for other problem and just said the person to check, he told me to wait for sometime and came back with my device with v40 i couldn't beleive when i saw my homescreen as like 5530 and 5230. I gave the device without my sim and memory card so surely they use some other version of nsu for the update and they didnt use ovi suite, as an end user we cannot update a nokia device without a sim card inserted also the device shoule be in 'general' profile, but in my case the profile was 'offline' with no sim card inserted so only they can do it. Also i can say that even if the update is not released for a product code its better to visit nokia care. Oh my god finally my 5800 has got life v30 was dreadful and i restart my device atleast 3 times a day. For those who stay in hyderabad i got it updated in care center at Tarnaka overall my experience was good and people over there were kind and handled the device with care too, so if you stay there i vouch for this center. Phew! my wait is over sorry for this nonparagraphed long story i was using opera mini while typing this.
This is possible, They dont tell you how its done..

They use different software at Care Points.
I'm guessing, if they updated your phone to V40 even though it isn't available yet for your product code, that they flashed the phone with the firmware for another product code that has alrwady received the update. In doing so they have invalidated your warranty.
And yes, there are some Care Points that will do this kind of thing without batting an eyelid. Carphone Warehouse were notorious for doing this kind of thing in the UK. None of the numerous Carphone Warehouse stores throughout the UK are Care Points any more...
They ll patch & update, finally they ll Re-patch back ur original product code.
I ve done mine myself.. everything is fine..
But in worst case if the mobiles goes dead they ll charge u, but if they do same that they ll somehow make it working(which we dont know whats happening). thats the differnce.

@shyam where are you from? its highly likely that you have operator branded handset did you buy the device from a nokia dealer or from any service provider under contract. Those branded devices wont get the update unless the service provider releases it because the firmware inside the device is not a generic nokia firmware instead a tweaked one by the service providers.
S i agree with that bro & u might be knowing the fact that these care units operate under brand name nokia.
Mine is not operator dependent. Also u might be knowing the fact there are lotta shops operating out there who can unlock any operator branded phone.. Everything is possible in india..
