When the update stops and message prompts you to disconnect the phone.. just click OK.. (Do not disconnect the phone..) and see if the process continues.. Read somewhere on this forum that this worked in a few cases... so give it a go...
.. though never confirmed myself.. as never had to undergo this problem...
