Whenever I start the Nokia software updater program, it always stays on the splash screen which shows "Starting Application". It hasn't changed from that status for so long and it really bugs me now. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software many times but still the same problem. Is this only my problem with my PC? I have turned off the firewall (Norton Internet Security 2006) as the FAQ tells me. Any insights on this problem? I want to flash my 3250 firmware as my version is pretty old now (v3.18).

Edit: The version that is displayed in the NSU is v1.11.30en. Maybe a software updater bug or something? It is pretty slow initializing the application even though I have connected the phone through USB and choosing PC Suite. What could be the problem with this guys? Any help would be really appreciated from other 3250 NSU users as well...

Hey guys,

I think I solved my own problem anyway. I connected the phone to the PC by USB and chose PC Suite mode. Then I opened NSU and seconds later another screen appeared, which is the start of the updating process. I hope this update works anyway.

well, I am having the same problem (although with the N70) but switching on the PC suite before starting the updater and getting my mobile recognised didn't fix the problems... Its just sitting there and turning the pretty blue bar...

Thanks blamber for your post. I thought I was the only one having this problem. Anyway, I think the new 1.1.30en version of the NSU is problematic in a big way. I just got the application to get past the splash screen only once and many times the program hangs in that "Starting Application" screen. Until now I haven't properly updated my phone as this NSU problem still hinders me. I hope the Nokia engineers are into this now, as to resolve this problem. As of now, I think I would not update my 3250's firmware as long as this problem lingers. They should soon release a pretty stable version of the NSU to get around.

Yep, I have the same problem on my laptop - Norton Internet Security 2006 installed, latest version of the NSU as well. No matter what I try - disabling the NIS 2006, permitting access to NSU, etc. - the result is the same: the application starts showing "Starting application" screen and hangs. Over a month ago I had an older version of the NSU and it behaved the same way. Any ideas of how this could be solved?

Same problem here, just hangs on the starting application screen, tried installing it on 3 diferent pc's with no luck.

Hi I have Nokia 6680 and dopwnloaded and Installed the latest PC suite and Upadter softwares on date 20 nov 2006.

I am able to connect my Phone with PC using PCsuite but the updater just shows the blue scorlling progress bar and says starting application... it remained there...i left it to do something for hours but same result...

Could anybody from Nokia put some effort to give the solution of this problem

I have Norton installed on My PC with disbled auto protect option and firewall is as well disabled

Please anybody reply if they have any clue

Hi there,
I've just managed to get the NSU to work with my Nokia 3250. This is just as a test to see if it recognises it. What I'd do is restart the PC, then connect to the net, and then place the USB cable into the USB port, then the pop-port into the socket, then when you get the choice on the phone screen say: PC Suite.
I only did this to see if it worked, but I'm no longer interested in updating my phone, as I feel I'm happy with the phone version I have:

Also, if feel that there have been some unsatisfied users of the NSU, so I've decided to not update my software unless there is proof of any improvements rather than run the risk of a bug. I've already heard of degraded sound quality. (If this is not the case, I apologise)
