Hi, just wondering is anyone else is in the same situation as me (Probally), I purchased a nokia 5800 on the 19th of jan from 02 on a pay monthly contract. I noticed new firmware (40.0.005) had come available but could not update. the nokia software updater said my phone was already upto date  (31.0.101.237.06)  and no updates where available.

So i checked the web and found the product codes as to which the new firmware was due out for and my product code (0576524 RED) wasnt on the list. So I rang nokia care and after a 40 minute phone call they told me that the v40.0.005 wouldnt be compatible with my version and I should return it to the 02 shop where I got it from and ask for a more upto date version of the mobile.

I rang 02 and all there 5800's are the same custom firmware version (31.0.101.237.06) So I couldnt exchange if I wanted too. so where do I go from here? I think its shocking that the phones with my product code are stuck on old firmware!

that's because u r a contract phone user ... so wait till o2 gets its own firmware update 

the firmware updates is delayes due to : region , contract or operator - and special editions too - like Egyptian and Syrian non GPS versions and Ramadan edition , ..... etc

so be patient till they get their own update

You are complaining that you got the 5800 with version V31.0 and you think it's old and I just (on Friday 29/1) got a brand new one from an Optus World store in Sydney on the $49 cap plan and just discovered that it has V20 on it which is like a dinosaur software and they still have it in stock and selling it.

The Nokia Ovi Suite just pushed out the V31.1.101 software update to my mobile and it didn't give me an option to go any higher, so am happy with that.

Currently updating the Ovi Maps to version 3.0, as I had version 2.0 on the mobile from factory.

Where is this product code you guys talk about and where do find it? Where do I enter this product code to find other information (like updates...etc)?

Ask your phone network provider as they control the firmware updates for your phone .

@jje : this product code is unbranded so the delay is due to firmware distribution of nokia

it's MENA_E EURO1RED UAE versio ((no operator or contract))
