Hi ,
I have a nokia n8 with the motherboard swap code 059B288.
After searching these discussion boards i am taking my phone to a nokia care point to see if they can update to the latest software.
Has anyone else done this ?, do they change the product code so that in the future i will not need to go through this messing about?
Thanks.

Hi,
Just been to carphone warehouse ,which is listed as my local nokia care point,to try and get the Anna update.
Unfortunately they could not update the phone software and suggested I send it direct to nokia care in thetford.
Has anyone here with the 059B288 product code had their update via a local nokia care point ?
Thanks.

Hi,
for Nokia Belle we unfortunately have the same situation, as updates for swap codes can't be done via the "normal" Nokia Suite route.
Q: I have a so called swap phone. How do I get the update to Nokia Belle?
A: Swap phones unfortunately can’t be updated via Nokia Suite. Please check with your local Nokia Carepoint (locations via www.nokia.com/support) to get the update.

yvonne

Having to endure a motherboard change on a new phone was already quite a bad experience (I had mine change 3 times within the first 2 month of purchased in Jan 2011). It is very saddening to know that we can't enjoy the hassle free update via Nokia Suite because we had our motherboard changed (which was not our mistake). Yes, I was told that the only way to update is to bring my phone to a Nokia Care Centre. That is not only troublesome (travel time, waiting time, etc) but they will wipe the data on the phone clean during the update. I faced the same problem when updating to Anna.
I really like my N8 and I am proud that I own a king of camera phone. I hope Nokia will seriously look into solving this problem. If not, Nokia is simply punishing their customer for being unlucky to get a defective first batch phone.

I am facing the same exact problem. Went to nokia care to fix faulty mic. They changed the board... THE PRODUCT CODE CHANGED! I also read somewhere that the enginners are suppose to change the product code back to the original board. I did this in Nokia Care, Amcorp Mall, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. They are merely some half plus six contractors!

Hi Skyee, i hope nokia can look into this seriously. Having motherboard changed is not our fault and problem. If you know changing the product code will cause a lot of problems especially the update to enhance our phone. Why you want to change it at the first? Is it possible to change my product code back? I don't want to deal with the same problem everytime there are firmware updates available. Do we really need to pay for the update if our warranty has expired? The update should be free for everyone. This is unfair to us.

"Swap phones unfortunately can’t be updated via Nokia Suite."
The right word here isn't "can't", i think it should be "want". Nokia doesn't WANT to make it easier for all of us, it just wants to waste our time. If they truly wanted everyone of us to get an update, THE WOULD HAVE JUST UPLOADED THE FREAKIN' BELLE OS ON THEIR WEBSITE, WHERE EVERYONE COULD DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL WITH THE NOKIA SUITE. Is it really that hard for a multi billion phone producing company to think of?
